Why are the democrats so stupid ?
The democrats seem to think we know it all. We are smarter than the other side. Facts, more often than not, are on our side. Yet just under half the country seems to be against us and our radical agenda. Why is that? is healthcare for all really that radical? is protecting the environment really that radical, is improving the living standards for all Americans really that radical?

The democrats are up against a multi billion dollar industry, and have been since the early 90's, that convinces a large proportion of the American people that the government is bad and cant do anything right. Whom do these people support? the free market, the corporations. The same corporations that try to milk these people at every opportunity.

The right has many outlets in its arsenal, from right wing hate radio, a fake news channel and numerous publications ranging from daily newspapers to weekly magazines. The left on the other has a pittance in comparison.

Republicans have linguist specialists, notably Frank Luntz, who jobs it is to come up with talking points that really connect with the American people, to stop the democrats agenda, usually in favour of big business and the GOP.

At the beginning of August, I don't know how many times i heard different GOP congressman and representative's say the exact same thing over and over again. What did the democrats do, did they employ their own linguist to come up with their own talking points to counter this message, and than launch a media campaign with good communicators to get out their message on various news outlets. no? why not?

We are nearly a year into a new democratic administration, and yet the right wings hate radio seem to be getting more hateful. Just the other day, the de-facto leader of the republican party called to bring back segregated buses. Others have tried to incite violence against Democrats in the government. And yet our representative's have yet to purpose legislation to being civility back to the airwaves. Why ? for fear of it been labeled a partisan move?

The Democrats have so much power right now, to fix many problems, but their agenda seems to get hijacked over and over again, from special interests and a few crazy minority.

Whats going on is not rocket science, we have seen this playbook from the last 20 years. Why dosent the Democratic leadership learn?

1. First rec.

This piece echoes my own beliefs and feelings. I remember a time when the liberals had the ear of the public, especially the young. I watched some videos of Mary Travers that reminded me of that time. How did we lose the message.

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind.

...

Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin',
I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin',
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
Handful of Senators don't pass legislation,
And marches alone can't bring integration,
When human respect is disintegratin',
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin',
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

2. The only thing...
I disagree with is when it started, I believe it was much earlier.

4. That is a good point, but to compare these Republicans with those pre Reagan
would be comparing two different animals. It is hard to believe that under Nixon the Republicans wanted some type of Healthcare reform. But today, they want to keep the status quo and block healthcare reform for as long as possible. And have been successfully doing so since 1994.

Their openness with which they love to share their loathing of government and greatness of corporations is astounding.

5. You are correct...
about pre Reagan and now, but the right wing was putting together think tanks in the early '70s but at the time they were radical fringe groups, today they are writing our laws.

3. When is a Democrat not a Democrat?
Do you think a wolf will not crawl under a sheepskin to get closer to its prey? Well, it would.

What does it take for the sheep to realize that what looks like a sheep might not be a sheep? Probably a death or two.

We're dying. Are we waking?

If not, perhaps we don't deserve to watch out for ourselves -- we don't deserve democracy.

Stupid, ignorant, name-callers, ... what does it matter?

6. Dems Are Not Stupid
1. Democrats are not nearly as ideologically pure as the Republicans which hampers their message. The Republicans and the far right fringe are now one in the same.

2. There are a lot of Democrats beholden to corporate lobbyists. They're mostly from small states where a few million from corporate lobbyists can swing the election in their state.

7. The GOP's smear and lie technique goes back a long way.
A radio talk show host - a Catholic priest - in the early 1930's put forth that FDR's real name was Rosenfeld and that he was secretly Jewish.
Republicans in the early '50's stated that President Eisenhower - a republican - was a communist...and that his brother was, too. They hated JFK, LBJ, still hate Jimmy Carter and the Clintons, and are really going all out on Obama.

Lies and smears are all the GOP has, and they are very focused on this stuff, whereas the Democrats are a group of people that are ideologically all over the place on nearly every issue.

I am still amazed that Democrats don't know the history of American politics in the 20th century, and don't recall that we were routinely attacked and even killed by police, anti-union thugs and other employees of the rich and the right wing. There are a lot of right wing sites at this minute advocating violent death to all of us who happen to be in their area, and at least some of these scumbags are not kidding at all. We do need to wake up.
