10. Indeed.
My older brother once teased me about being "just a little girl".

I bloodied his nose.

24. Heh. I bet he didn't do it again, did he? Some folks have to learn
the hard way, but most learn it as your brother did, when he was much, much younger.

:hi:

4. not to me she didn't- "Big Girls" can show emotion, and express concern
or they should be able to without being labeled childish.

Not all expressions of disapproval, or warnings have to be made with aggression, anger and bravado.

6. Fuck off--her reference was to the killing of George Moscone and Harvey Milk in San Francisco
in 1978.

She is from San Francisco and was involved in local politics.

She is not a scared little girl--she remembers an act of political violence based on intolerance and hatred.

I was in the San Francisco area at that time, too, and thinking about that day makes me cry, too.

Your post is totally asinine. I hope it continues to get un'rec'd.

at ANY time, much less on a Democratic site.

18. ok- and I wanted her to respond authentically- not with false bravado
or in a way that was artificial. I didn't see a "weak little girl" I saw a woman who was well aware of how dangerous and destructive inciting hatred can be- A woman who was neither ignorant or naive about the consequences. If she'd been angry and postured like some puffed up politician, it is possible she might appear to be challenging that element of society which feeds on violence.

Sometimes people don't always respond the way we want them to. That shouldn't make them our enemy. We need to dial back our own aggression, imo. Myself included.

peace~

23. Oh yeah?
And if a male politician fails to live up to your standards of assertiveness what sex-based epithet will you assign him?

I'm assuming as a progressive you possess the requisite critical-thinking skills. Surely there is some other descriptor you can affix to your commentary. Are you interested in pushing your point more than finding common ground with those with whom you supposedly find common cause but have offended? I can forgive your ignorance but now that you know you have upset people to continue to hold on to this insult makes it deliberate.

Please tell me you prefer our friendship over a childish slur.

And for the record I too wish she had been more assertive but that also follows for plenty of male democrats as well.

On that day I was in high school and they pulled us out of class to stand around the flag pole while they lowered the flag to half staff. We all just stood there, stunned.

Also, Jonestown had just happened the week before.

21. Sorry, you're way off base.
The current atmosphere is scary and there's nothing wrong with saying that. She didn't say she was running away or that we should push the panic button and abandon ship to save ourselves. She said she recognized the atmosphere for what it is!
