Right now Max Baucus wishes Kanye West would jump on stage and grab the mic

With the Chamber of Commerce now weighing in saying that the Senate Finance Committee bill still needs work its hard to imagine a bill that was more anticipated that has been met with more scorn.

Each time Baucus drags himself in front of a microphone his skin looks whiter and chalkier and it sounds as if he has added another golf ball at the back of his throat.

So bad is the bill that on Countdown Howard Feinman doubted that it was written by the lobbyists and handed into the committee because the lobbyists would never have submitted a bill that was so over the top for the Health Care industry.

How bad is it for Baucus?

Right now Baucus is on his knees praying that the next time he is in front of a microphone Kanye West jumps up and takes it from him.

WASHINGTON - Sen. Max Baucus on Wednesday brought out the much-awaited Finance Committee version of an American health-system remake a landmark $856 billion, 10-year measure that starts a rough ride through Congress without visible Republican backing.

The bill by Baucus, Democratic chairman of the Senate panel, would make major changes to the nation's $2.5 trillion health care system, including requiring most people to purchase insurance coverage or pay a fine and prohibiting insurance companies from charging more to people with more serious health problems

But the bill fails to fulfill President Barack Obama's aim of creating a new government-run insurance plan or option to compete with the private market. It proposes instead a system of nonprofit member-owned cooperatives, somewhat akin to electric co-ops that exist in some areas of the country. That was one of many concessions meant to win over Republicans.

Early indications Wednesday were that Baucus would face a challenge in rounding up enough votes on his committee to get his bill approved, although he acknowledged that it might well be amended in committee.

1. I hope lightning strikes him on Capitol Hill.
Maybe if God fries him, Congress will develop some REAL religion.

2. His bill is a piece of shit, and his pride is going to get smashed.
His bill will likely never make it out of committee in the current form. You can bet your dollar folks like Jay Rockefeller and others have amendments up the wazoo to clean out the shit from the bill.
