I'm arguing with a Freeper Type on another board about the Federal budget deficit and the National Debt.
He maintains that Reagan and Bush can't be held responsible because "bills originate in the House".
I told him, "Yes, but BUDGET PROPOSALS come from the White House."
The moron refuses to concede that point. How stupid is that?
Prepare for this new talking point...

| 2. That point ought to be easy to prove since news of presidential budgets make the news |
|
And if they don't accept what's in print say from the Washington Times conservative rag, then they prove the point that they're willfully ignorant.

And as the first reply points out, if it is the responsibility of the House, what's up with the mammoth deficits from 2001 - 2006 when the Repubs controlled the House?
Further, you can point out that Bush kept the costs of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars OUT of the official calculations of the budget deficit, while Obama has included them in his.

| 6. Also remind him that unfunded tax are deficit spending. |
|
When you fail to decrease spending but instead move it around to a more preferable allocation, then actually spend more, while reducing revenue without replacing it in another way then you're really failing at being conservative in any way.
