It's OFFICIAL: Repubs Will Support NO Health Care Reform, Whatsoever
Baucus just released his disgrace of a reform bill with no Public Option. For those who have been following this, it is no surprise, as his plan was leaked over a weak ago, most likely by the K-street lobbyists he wrote it for. There is a silver lining on the release of this bill: Repubs won't support it. Well, there is common ground after-all: both Dems and Repubs don't like the Baucus Bill.

That is a bit of a surprise, but only when you realize they won't support it for different reasons: Dems won't support it because it doesn't have a Public Option and Repubs won't support it, well, because they won't support ANY Health Care Reform Bill. Period.

But the really good news about this is it gives the Dems a green light to go ahead with Reconciliation. The time for a last resort has arrived. The Senate Democrats should simply take the HR 3200 as is, make that the Senate Resolution and produce a Democratic Health Care Reform Bill as soon as possible.

Tens of Thousands of Americans are dying each year because they can not afford health care. The time to act is now.

1. I get the feeling that a variation on your scenario is going to unfold.
This cannot be what the fuss has been about.

2. I would take issue with one line of your post.
Where you said "..by the K-street lobbyists he wrote it for."

I think it was probably "...by the K-street lobbyists who wrote it for him."

4. Yes, it's a green light to make it a far better bill because there's no point
in trying to appease those corporate-ass-kissing repukes since they won't vote for the monstrosity they influence anyway.

5. It's time to drop the bipartisan charade and pass a Democratic bill.
Republicans have had every opportunity to join in, but they've chosen to weaken what's on the table as much as possible before they all vote against it. Take out the Republican amendments and pass a purely Democratic bill. To hell with them.

7. Yes, I knew it was going to be this way from the first day when
they refused to bring the PNHP doctors and ordinary patients to the meetings and committees but the insurance companies and big PhRMA have been in and out of Congress and the White House on a daily basis. Incidentally, I know the PNHP doctors were allowed to testify at one committee and were never heard from again.
