ACORN shows 'pimp' and 'pro' the door Philadelphia and cops called
-----

But when the phony pimp and prostitute tag team visited ACORN's local office, on Broad Street near Parrish, on July 24, they were apparently shown the door.

Philadelphia ACORN president Carol Hemingway said in a statement on Monday that "after causing a major disturbance, they were asked to leave the office, and a police report was filed."

Hemingway e-mailed copies of the incident report to the news media. No charges were filed against O'Keefe or Giles, and their visit to the City of Brotherly Love has not been part of a series of reports aired on the Fox News Channel.

27. I've thought about that. The problem is, the rebranding would seem insidious to the critics of
ACORN.
They would take that as an admission that the entire organization was, indeed, corrupt through and through.
Renaming itself, using some of the same upper level staff, addressing the same issues...all of these things would simply cause the GOP to attack it as the new ACORN, this time with something to hide.

I think ACORN does need some serious internal shaking up, investigation as well as employee training.

I find it amazing that anyone would take this couple seriously, but then there are a lot of stupid people out there. If one did take them seriously, the correct response would be to involve the police ASAP. If one did not, the correct response to throw them out so you can help the people with real problems.

This is the third time it happened in a short period of time, so it would require a minimum of three. Which excludes all the ones who didn't get caught. The fact that it was so easy to catch those three instances suggests that its more common. Like if you go to the houses of three random congressmen and find dead hookers in all of them, that doesn't prove all the rest likewise have dead hookers, but it certainly is concerning.

Obviously you haven't seen the video. Go check it out. There is no context what they said would have been acceptable.

The setup was so outrageous that it is virtually impossible for ANYONE to have taken it seriously. The questions asked, the people asking them, just SCREAM phony.

But you, for your own reasons, choose to believe the absurd. Why is that, I wonder?

EDIT: and you didn't address how the actions (real or not) of a couple people reflect on an organization that has many, many offices and THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of people.

Your belief: ACORN for some reason worked with these people in a convoluted plot to make themselves look bad and lose federal funding in a conspiracy that no one inside the organization seems to know about and is now up to 4 different offices, and frankly benefits them not at all.

My belief: ACORN hired some idiots.

these days. Or we can pretend all of America experiences a middle class life style. Apparently some of these workers are desensitized to things like prostitution and these workers deal a lot with poverty. Hmm... but that can never be the story.

Sure what these workers did was wrong, but why they did it probably tells us more about what it's like to be poor in inner city America. ACORN can probably clean up it's offices, but it isn't fixing poverty any time soon.

16. Let's apply that logic to other things, shall we?
A tobacco company is an organization, not a person. Most are hardworking, normal people, not evil or anything. Only a few corrupt individuals decided to lie and cover up the effects of nicotine, not everyone. The *vast majority* did nothing wrong.

So it would be wrong to penalize the entire organization, or brand them as corrupt/evil, for the actions of a few, right? You wouldn't want to be hypocritical would you?

44. But now you're applying a different metric
first it was every organization has corrupt members, so we can't blame the entire thing.

Now it's only an issue in life or death instances.

Take the same basic analogy then and apply it to insurance companies if you like, or anything really.

Tobacco company *executives* covered up knowledge of the deadly effects of their product, thus killing thousands. The minimum wage workers filmed were not the leadership of ACORN or planning official policy. When the leadership and official policy are corrupt, it's time to disband. That's not the case with ACORN.

The right wing setup visited 5 ACORN offices in 5 different cities before they found some goon who would play along with them.

The goon has since been fired.

I just wish the lying corporate media would report this part of the story.

They won't, though. ACORN is an organization that helps poor folks, and their corporate masters hate that.

Getting the names is a good first step. Now we need to know who funded them and who wrote the script.

now, if we are going to accuse any of these workers as actually embracing child prostitution, it behoves us to get it right. we have a responsibility. and sense the woman was clueless she was being filmed, and nationally exposed without her side heard, we have to at least

34. While this should be fairly looked into for wider systemic issues
Generally, it seems we hesitate to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Its not like we suspended recruiting when the military got busted helping people around drug tests and admissions requirements until we got a handle on the problem. Hell, the Republican party would have been disbanded years ago for election fraud and disenfranchisement alone years ago with a tough zero/minimal tolerance approach.

I seems groups like ACORN gets a much shorter leash than others actually operating for profit and as direct representatives of the USA. Hell, they won't even consistently alert us that Freedomworks is a front for the insurance lobby.
