Denmark pulls 'promiscuous' tourism video (rofl! I wanna go there.)
(video is at link)

A video promoting tourism in Denmark has been removed from YouTube after complaints it promoted promiscuity.

The three minute clip shows a young blond woman, trying to find a man whom she had a one night stand with, who fathered her child "August".

VisitDenmark's manager, Dorte Kiilerich said the film was supposed to be a "nice and sweet story of a woman".

But Denmark's Economy Minister, Lene Espersen said it "was not a very well-thought-out picture of the country".

In the advert, the woman says - in English - that she was "trying to find August's father".

"We met one night a year and a half ago when you were on vacation here in Denmark.

"We met..and then decided to have a drink and, yeah, it's really embarrassing but it's more or less what I remember.

"I don't remember where you're from or even your name."

1. It was a strange attempt at marketing -- for sure.

The actress is hot.

But I do find it odd that some articles refer to the baby as "dark-skinned".

3. Come to Denmark! Our Women Are Easy!
Good message to put out there especially since I bet that the majority of travel done by guys 25 and younger to a foreign country is because they've heard how easy it is to get laid there.

7. It looked totally awkward, the woman did not look happy, and
she had a bouncy baby, so if that was the intent, I think it failed quite miserably.

8. "A nice and sweet story of a woman" my ass.
It's a sexist piece of crap. Just another version of advertising offering men the promise of free and easy sex in order to sell them something.

"Men: Come to Denmark! Our women's legs are wide open for you! Then you can cut out and make it home before they find out you've knocked 'em up. Let's see them come after you for child support THEN! LOL!!!!!!!"

I actually knew a Dane once whose father was a Croat he didn't know and had no relationship with. I haven't seen him in many years, but I wonder what his opinion of this ad is. (And incidentally enough, his name was Jorgensen.)

16. The odd word she was mentioning was "hygge"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_of_Denmark#.22Hygg...

One of the fundamental aspects of Danish culture is "hygge", which, although translated as "coziness" is more akin to "tranquility". Hygge is a complete absence of anything annoying, irritating, or emotionally overwhelming, and the presence of and pleasure from comforting, gentle, and soothing things. Hygge is often associated with family and close friends. Christmas time when loved ones sit close together with candles lit on a cold rainy night is "hygge", as is grilling a plse (Danish sausage) on a long summer evening. These examples, although they do not precisely define "hygge", can give an English speaker an idea of a deeply valued traditional concept of Danish culture.

Sounds great, and it makes me hate this commercial even more.
