2. Kucinich and Rohrabaker are surprises
I'm sure Dennis had some reason, but I can't figure out what. I would never have expected Rohrabaker to do the right thing.

7. And why wouldn't Barney Frank take a stand?
Instead he just voted "Present."

33. Barney Frank said he didn't want to be in charge of monitoring
other people's behavior. In Newseek, he is quoted as saying, “I think it’s bad precedent to put us in charge of deciding whether people act like jerks,” Frank said. “I don’t have time to monitor everyone’s civility.”

18. There shouldn't have been a debate about this, IMO
It was a point of order and decorum, not policy.

34. I agree.
There are Life & Death issues that NEED to be addressed.
Debating and voting on whether the congressman from SC is an asshole is a complete waste of time and has a HIGH potential for unintended consequences....like making him a martyr for the Right Wing crazies.

He is a progressive in name only :sarcasm:

Clearly some progressives can disagree with some DUers and still be a progressive. We kick people out of our party for diverse opinions at our peril

31. He usually offers up an explanation for his votes.
But I just looked his site over and can't see one yet.

For all I know, he might have voted against a rebuke because he was in favor of something more severe.

25. He should vote no on HCR if it looks like the packages coming out of the Senate
or the one Obama outlined! God I hope most of them vote no!!

I can't stand Wilson's actions, but I thought this kind of thing was a waste of time for MoveOn, and everyone else when they did it. Now we have to go through it with this clown.

8. I am hoping/assuming they voted against it on principle
Thinking they should not be in the business of regulating behavior on the floor of the House.

Just as I am assuming the crossover Republicans were unhappy with the breaking of long-established rules and disrespect to the office of president.

It would be nice to believe people actually vote for what they believe is right.

22. How many people receive a resolution when some (not sure how many) members of Congress booed Bush.
Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 06:13 PM by Statistical
I remember it in 2004 or 2005 and Bush was lying about Social Security being bankrupt by 2040. I remember it because I laughed at it at the time. In hindsight it likely wasn't all that proper.

It was more a jumbled of voices like an angry mob than a single clear LIAR but the intent was still the same. They believed Bush was lying about SS going bankrupt in 2040.

28. I can appreciate your argument,
but booing/clapping is one thing. Heckling is another - especially when decorum rules SPECIFICALLY call out "liar" and "hypocrite".

If the gentlemen and gentlewomen of Congress want to remove that language from decorum rules, then we can chat. As for today, the ink is dry.

32. Well I won't shed a tear for Wilson.... I think he is already paying the larger price.
The million dollars his almost bankrupt competitor raised as a result of his stupidity likely has given him an ulcer.

I just think all this gnashing of teeth about disrespect when the same thing happened to Shrub to be just a little to rich for me.

When he have major issues unresolved it seems like a little thing to arrange some public theater for the masses. Hey look over here we "spanked Wilson" hopefully this spanking makes your forget about all the promises we are breaking.

36. You are aware that Wilson has also raised over $1mm?
I was an active member here in 2002-4. Proud Deaniac with no recollection as to my username or what email I used. I know my post count isn't high after rejoining post-lay-off, but you appear to me to be what I remember as the devil's advocate and/or concern troll. Naderite by chance or party purist?

If I am wrong, I apologize in advance.

40. No need to appologize about your feelings if that if what you feel.
I wasn't aware he raised $1 mil I only followed the actblue thread. If true that is bad news looks like it is a net neutral (he raises $1 mil, Act Blue raises almost a mil).

concerned troll? Not really, I just see it as politics as usual. Maybe naive but I hoped that we would see less politics as usual after Obama got elected.

I am hardly a party purist. My stance of capitalism and gun rights got be ejected from that club. :)

I have seen some hilarious videos over the years. :D

That isn't our system though. We hold the house in a status of dignity, and regardless of party/topic - I kinda like it.

If no censure on this - what kind of scene will the SoTU produce from Representative Birther and Senator Teabagger (to be named at a later date)?
