Shilo Inn TVs tuned to FOX news and PORN
I was staying at a Shilo Inn last week where, in the motel lobby they serve FOX News with their free breakfast. I asked them if they could switch the TV off of FOX News while my friend and I ate breakfast (we were the only patrons eating breakfast there at the time.)

The woman behind the counter told me that she could not change the station. It was, according to her, corporate policy that all Shilo Inn lobbies must have FOX news broadcasts on all the time.

Of course, in your room every time you turn the TV on, it is NOT turned to FOX News. No, the TV comes on with an ad for their special PAY EXTRA for PORN channel.

It is also amusing that as little as you hear about Global Warming and saving the planet on Fox News in the lobby of a Shilo Inn, they really do seem to care about the environment in your motel room bathroom where there are big "annoyingly bleeding-heart sort of out of control liberal save the planet" signs urging everyone who cares to use their towels for as many days as possible. Using towels more than once is a very good idea, and I'm not for banning porn, but it sure is annoying to have to hear that PORN ad every time you turn on the TV and to see the annoying way those bathroom signs are worded.

So in what moral code do over-the-top save the planet by using the same towel twice signs, PORN ad in your guest's face every time they turn on the TV and FOX news on every time you walk in the lobby have in common? I can't think of any other than the morality of the bottom line. Shilo Inn, I suspect, believes that people who turn their minds over to FOX News make their world more profitable just like the ones who turn over their credit card numbers to Shilo Inn's PAY for PORN channel.

If you would prefer to stay at a motel where FOX news and PORN are something a guest has to seek out rather than having it blaring out at them every time they walk in the lobby or turn on the TV, choose a different motel.

2. FOX NEWS & PORN
They are kind of one and the same when you think about it.
Both are obscene.
Both attract a lot of really strange freaking people.

Fox News as "corporate policy" and now the Supreme Court wants to grant these same people (corporations) with unlimited campaign contributions.

Kind of puts the whole teabag hump-fest in DC today in perspective.

3. Mark Hemstreet is the owner. So Faux and porn reminders on the tv seem sorta appropriate.
He's a GOPer with a fondness for Swiftboating (R) PACs and steering big contributions to his political cronies. He should also join up with Sarah Palin as it seems they both have a love of illegal hunting.

Why would you stay there if you are so offended or outraged, even if only mildly so?

Poaching allegations add to hotelier's troubles

Police accuse Shilo Inns founder Mark Hemstreet and six others of state game violations at his Eastern Oregon ranch

BRYAN DENSON

Oregon State Police have cited hotel magnate Mark Hemstreet and a cadre of family and friends with 30 wildlife crimes and violations, among them illegally killing four elk and a black bear last fall on Shilo Ranch, Hemstreet's massive spread near Wallowa.

Hemstreet's friend Gregg Clapper, a 54-year-old Republican strategist known for his aggressive media campaigns, also was cited after a two-month investigation. Troopers searching Clapper's Portland home before Christmas found a small amount of marijuana and four pipes, according to court papers...

<snip>

State police said Hemstreet was cited with several misdemeanors, including unlawfully taking a bull elk without a valid tag, aiding in a game violation, loaning a big-game tag, borrowing a big-game tag and falsely applying for resident-of-Oregon hunting licenses while living in California the past five years, records show.

10. I find television VERY easy to ignore, no matter what's on it.
Be it an Obama speech, or Fuchs news, or even a Dodger game (if they're losing badly) I can ignore it.

Find a more interesting friend to eat breakfast with in a hotel, or learn how to focus better.

Just some friendly advice.

13. Blaring porn is great
Especially in hotels where the walls are typically paper thin. The room's main purpose is to sleep in, so I'm at a loss about why many hotels fail to put in decent sound-proof walls.
