Just My Two Cents, But I think Pelosi Is Being Targeted

I believe Pelosi is being targeted by the Insurance Industry. This is because of the false news reports today saying she is backing off the public option. Why are these reports false? Because Pelosi just made a statement:

She is in no way backing off the public option.

The Media has been doing this all year long. A report will come out saying Obama doesn't support the PO, then Obama is forced to release a statement saying he does. Now they are doing it to Pelosi. Notice that all the false reports reference "sources close to the issue". These false reports are hiding behind journalism ethics to cover up their lies.

Really, a health insurance lobbyist announces a fund raiser for Pelosi today. Couple that with the false reports and you've got a lot of paranoia and distrust of Pelosi, not to mention the outrage. We need to be very careful before eating our own and verify with them first what their positions are. I do not think it is safe to trust the media at this point.

any merit to the claims of the about-face Pelosi was being accused of. A couple days after the speech Obama made would not be the time to do what she's being accused of. Zero sense.

As the end goal becomes more achievable, the haters in all possible outlets will attempt to make their voices heard and to disrupt the gains being made. Common sense can distill most of these lies though.

Oh, she is backing off alright. Please call and email her. And I emailed the DCCC also and asked if the money collected can be given directly to a charity that provides direct health services to the people in need.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the first time yesterday suggested she may be backing off her support of the public option. According to CNN, Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid "said they would support any provision that increases competition and accessibility for health insurance - whether or not it is the public option favored by most Democrats." When "asked if inclusion of a public option was a non-negotiable demand - as her previous statements had indicated Pelosi ruled out any non-negotiable positions," according to CNN. This was also corroborated by the Associated Press, and by Pelosi's own words, as quoted in those stories.

This announcement came just hours before Steve Elmendorf, a registered UnitedHealth lobbyist and the head of UnitedHealth's lobbying firm Elmendorf Strategies, blasted this email invitation throughout Washington, D.C. I just happened to get my hands on a copy of the invitation from a source - check out this OpenLeft exclusive:

24. Stake out the fundraiser

One way to find out if Pelosi is lying is to watch who goes in the fundraiser on Sept. 24th. Although now that the info is out the fundraiser may be changed (if it's true).

26. In my email to her

I asked her office to validate the report that she was to be the guest at this fundraiser, and did this mean she was truly aligning herself with the insurance lobbyists. I left it open for a rebuttal from her office, but let it be known that if it IS true, we aren't too happy. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, and I may be naive, but I don't want to think of her as a sell-out to big insurance.
I also said I want the Congress to find the political will to adopt universal single payer..... I know, really naive, eh?
