One more reason why the Big Dog is still THE MAN.
ONCE the Big Dog, ALWAYS the Big Dog. He did this under the radar, not in the glare of the spotlight. Lisa Ling chose to publicly acknowledge it, which was nice of her, but he did it because he thought it was the right thing to do, not because it would play well to his "base."

Ling -- My 1st Night Back was Totally Cheesy

Posted Sep 10th 2009 12:30PM by TMZ Staff

After nearly 5 months in North Korean captivity, journalist Laura Ling -- Lisa Ling's sister -- wasn't just hungry for freedom ... she was jonesin' for some pizza!!!

Lisa also told our photog that President Bill Clinton -- the man who played a huge role in getting Laura back to the U.S. -- has been checking up on the family since her return.

1. journalism
I was hoping, with all the publicity surrounding their return, that those two ladies would be a reminder to the corporate shills -- who call themselves "journalists"-- what journalism is really all about. So many other journalists have also lost their lives in pursuit of information, important information, to educate us about the state of the world. But most people are blissfully unaware of their existence. The most recent person was Sultan Munadi, who worked with NYT reporter Stephen Farrell. What were they doing? They were reporting on the NATO airstrike on two hijacked fuel tankers that killed members of the Taliban and also a lot of civilans. They were doing good work.

Times like this, i feel sick to my stomach over the state of journalism in our country today.
