Seems only DC and minnesota were able to rid themselves of this insidious practice.

4. Ummm...which presidential race does that
map represent? The date at the bottom says last updated Nov. 03, so not the last couple of elections.

And that's saying a lot.

7. To those who criticize this on-target analysis - stop defending the slave states.
If we had let them go, the United States would have become a much better place than it is now.

We would be much more progressive in our social and economic policies without having to cater to the enemy.

See, even then repukes made mistakes.

9. There is no analysis in this ...

There never is, just some "if only" silliness that does nothing to solve problems.

12. The OP didn't post analysis, just an outdated map
for an unknown presidential election and a map of the Union/Confederacy. Nor is your post particularly analytical - it's a collection of 'what ifs' and assumptions.

11. Except that Obama won Florida, NC & VA, didn't he?
and came within a whisker of winning Missouri too..

But I do believe that "historically", the region we know as "the south" has a deeply entrenched racism that is palpable. "New" people moving there and gradually changing the climate is our hope for the future, as well as the die-off of the old folks who never gave it up..
