Prediction: Major health care reform, with a public option. will pass, will be popular
and dipshits like Lieberaman, Baucus, Collins, Grassley, etc., will be all over themselves trying to pretend they were for it all along.

:patriot:

1. i was thinking about this last night,
if and when we get a good public option bill, or single payer bill, when it comes right down to it, I bet all the opposition players will be falling over themselves to vote for it, when the final vote comes. I totally agree with you, they know it will be as popular as SS, and rightly so.

I hope our side realizes this, and plans strategy accordingly.

3. Andrew Sullivan of all people is pointing out that a bill that makes life easier for most people
(and cheaper!) can't fail to be popular. Congress will be fools not to pass it.

6. I hope you are right, but there is no doubt that 5 months ago their was a 75% approval

now it is even. Somebody let the ball drop

Why do you think the poll is not necessarily representative?

9. Because these polls can be easily manipulated
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 11:13 AM by Vinnie From Indy
and usually are!

on edit: I went to the Gallup site and read the poll questions. This is a bullshit poll from start to finish. The questions are inane and without any reference. Specifically, the poll asks about some generic, undefined issue "healthcare" without any specifics. I have never trusted Gallup/USA Today.

7. The bill has yet to become law.
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 11:17 AM by BurtWorm
People are confused right now because of the dust the right-wing is kicking up. It's difficult to believe that Americans will have a problem with a bill that enables them to get covered with or without pre-existing conditions, to be covered the same way wherever they work and even if they're out of work, and that lowers health care costs whether they're covered by private or public insurance. How can such a bill, if it becomes law, be unpopular. If Dems pass this, Republicans will just have to shut up or get killed. Either way, we win.

10. If I can figure this shit out, Obama and Rahm
and even Harry Reid ought to be able to figure this out. Without the bill, Dems are in deep shit. This is do or die. (Of course, Dems have been known to disappoint before...)
