SC ex School Board of Ed hiding out in Canada
(Will Dudley Do-Right save Nell from Snidely Whiplash or Whiplass?)

The ongoing drama surrounding former S.C. Board of Education Chairwoman Kristin Maguire took an odd twist today when it was revealed that the home-schooling, sweater-knitting, social conservative mother of four was hiding out in Canada with another woman while her South Carolina sex scandal dies down.

Maguire, who was identified last week as erotic fiction writer “Bridget Keeney,” is staying in Canada with an unidentified woman, sources tell FITS. Oddly enough, this woman is alleged to have had some connection to her “outing,” although details are sketchy at best at the moment. Attempts to reach Maguire by FITS and numerous members of the mainstream media over the past week proved unsuccessful.

While Maguire lays low, S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford’s office is facing withering criticism over its handling of the her case.

After initially claiming that it had not received any information related to Maguire’s alleged alter-ego, Sanford’s office later changed its tune and admitted that it was provided with “some information” about Maguire in late June. The governor’s office later acknowledged that this material was similar to the incriminating information that FITS obtained in late August.

So, did Sanford’s office investigate the allegations against Maguire? Or did it conspire with her in an effort to cover her tracks?

We have yet to receive any official comment from Sanford’s office, and the “unofficial” comments are all over the map, which isn’t surprising given Maguire’s close proximity to numerous current and former Sanford staffers, as well as to the governor himself.

Oh, Canada.......... Jeez these people like to travel.

1. Does the Appalachian Trail extend into Canada?
Man, SC is becoming THE state for sordid political entertainment.

Breaking news on Sanford on MSNBC as I write this.

SC, whatta state.

Now I can hear the fat lady warming up!

Still not sure Mark will hear her sing though.

8. So here's something I learned from that...
Apparently, "US Americans" is the correct way to designate American citizens in academic circles. Something about everyone on the North American continent being able to claim "American" status.

So, the girl's an idiot, but she seems to have gotten one thing right.

4. Gotta love these social conservatives
who look down their long blue noses at the rest of us while they have sex lives that would make Lady Chatterley blush.

Being a social conservative should be an automatic disqualification for public office. Oh, you could forgive one or two who'd gone astray, but the pattern is now so well established that just the words "social conservative" provokes knowing snickers at the average suburban cocktail party and outright guffaws at urban ones.

It's high time the churchy crowd catches a clue. I mean, come on, people, Jesus told you what the hypocrites were all about when he saved that woman from public stoning!

10. they are entertaining...
It's not the sex stupid, it's the hypocrisy. I guess that is one more difference between liberals and conservatives. We like sex, we think it is natural. Certainly there are some lines that we don't like being crossed, and they vary, but shit that is between you and your partner or partners. Conservatives might like sex too, but they don't want anyone to know so they cover it up and get into some bizarre shit. Then there is the inevitable "fall from grace" and the faux apology. It never gets old does it?

11. Good point.
I wouldn't vote for a school board candidate who had her kids in private school or homeschooled her kids. To me, that would indicate disdain for the public schools. But I guess some people don't see the conflict there.
