CSPAN - Students are calling in, inspired.
When was the last time you heard a kid say they enjoyed a speech by anyone?

This is exactly what our country needs right now.

2. It's really nice to hear. Particularly the call about the 9 year-old Down's girl...
Who listened to the speech, turned to her mother and said, "I'm going to try harder".

Think of the obstacles that girl faces, and this President just inspired her to work to overcome them.

3. One thing that pisses off the conservatives is how well Obama relates to the youth of this country
So happy to see they were inspired by our President's speech.

9. It's a joke ....
Referring to the idea promoted by RWers that Obama is only trying to indoctrinate our youth with communistic ideals ...

15. As an educator, I would agree with you
that students need to learn about Marx & Capitalism, all the "isms"! Maybe, people would then not throw around "loaded language" which they really do not understand (just parroting).

6. I am sure many have noticed as I have that kids are more savvy than ever & I think they feel vital

and relevant for the first time in a long time regarding presidential politics. We have a president who is young, blackberrys, plays sports, etc. But most importantly, he comes from that place of sincerity where we all were once when we were kids and thought anything was possible. What a gift this dude is to the world.

12. I wish I had 10% of this kind of inspiration when I was a student
Inspiration back in those days was, "Shut up and don't talk back, fitting in is VERY important, and you better not fuck up".

18. Interesting to know how many of the students who heard his speech
to them today, will tune into his speech to Congress tomorrow? What history lessons that can be learned together with their families.

I still have vivid memories of listening with my mother and sibs to the FDR Fireside chats and Winston Churchill. Their voices and words gave us a sense of unity and jobs to do to help save our fighting forces and our country. We all felt a part of the war effort.

21. Ahh the cause of the top end of the Republiscum problem
They just knew the kids would be inspired and that alone was unacceptable. A whole generation that leans left before they have thought about it.
