I know some are in Fl. becauser of a guest who was on Hardball, but I can't tell where the others are now about how many there are.

I'm curious because it's so easy for the media to make it sound like there are LOTS of people opposing this speech, but it well may be a handfull of nutballs in a few extremist parts of the country that are making all the fuss.

Districts in states including Texas, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Virginia, Wisconsin have decided not to show the speech to students. Others are still thinking it over or are letting parents have their kids opt out.

Some conservatives, driven by radio pundits and bloggers, are urging schools and parents to boycott the address. They say Obama is using the opportunity to promote a political agenda and is overstepping the boundaries of federal involvement in schools.

"As far as I am concerned, this is not civics education — it gives the appearance of creating a cult of personality," said Oklahoma state Sen. Steve Russell. "This is something you'd expect to see in North Korea or in Saddam Hussein's Iraq."

9. A minor issue being used to divert attention from the important . . .
Once again, people allow the pursuit of the inconsequential to get between them and the attainment of the practical.

While a debate rages on whether or not children should hear a talk that may or may not mean anything to them, discussions proceed apace that will influence the quality and cost of health care for every generation throughout the land.

The question to ask is, where will our emphasis have greatest effect?

11. Yes it's minor, BUT it's fueling the hate! It's the hate that is starting to
worry me. I really trust & respect the Secret Service folks, but things happen, and they can't control EVERYTHING! I'm afraid things are going to get violent at one of these meetings...the beginning was in Thousand Oaks Ca. yesterday when 2 guys threw punches and one got the tip of his finger bitten off!

12. Some districts in Wisconsin
Embarrassingly enough, our late news reported that some WI school districts are refusing to show the President's speech. The news focused on the Waukesha (McCain Country) school district, and showed this administrator talking about how they didn't have time to fit it in with everything else the students have to learn that day, blah blah blah. He sounded completely ridiculous.
