RNC 2008 Retrospective 1 year later. Many memories are shared.

Lawsuits filed on RNC anniversary by Sheila Regan, TC Daily Planet • Two Republican National Convention (RNC)-related lawsuits were filed September 1, adding to the list of litigation against St. Paul, Minneapolis, and various law enforcement agencies in the aftermath of the RNC. The two lawsuits focus on mass arrests on the first day of the convention and on a house raid during the weekend before the convention.

It happened here by Mike Hazard, TC Daily Planet • I was lying down watching the early evening news on the fourth day of the convention. Channel Five was live, reporting "all was quiet in St. Paul". The window was open. I could hear the staccato percussion of concussion grenades blowing up the streets of my neighborhood.

Reflections on the RNC, one year later by Art Hughes, TC Daily Planet • After the initial terror of getting rounded up, threatened with concussion grenades, pepper spray and Tasers, handcuffed and frisked, what sticks with me about getting arrested last year at the Republican National Convention is how it was more like a drawn-out version of a trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles. It was boring and bureaucratic ...

Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner reflects, a year after the RNC by Karlee Weinmann, TC Daily Planet • It’s been a year since the Republican National Convention descended on St. Paul, bringing with it hordes of protesters and police whose clashes erupted into several incidents still working their way through the courts.

RNC memories from jailed reporter Sheila Regan, business owner Sara Remke, St. Paul City Attorney John Choi, and council member Dave Thune by Sheila Regan, TC Daily Planet • On September 4 last year, I found myself in a jail cell ... I was reporting for the TC Daily Planet, and the whole city seemed to have departed into a surreal fake war scenario, where everyone was shouting at each other, tear gas was going off right and left, and everyone was in a frenzy.

RNC anniversary haunts DFL guv-candidate forum by Chris Steller, Minnesota Independent • The RNC cast a few odd shadows at a forum for candidates seeking to replace Pawlenty.

RNC scorecard, one year later by Sheila Regan, TC Daily Planet • More than 800 arrests - and one year later, how many charges and how many convictions?

RNC 8 still waiting for trial by Sheila Regan, TC Daily Planet • Almost a year after the "RNC 8" were arrested based on conspiracy charges about their alleged plans to disrupt the RNC, they are still waiting for a trial date.
