Why don't Catholic bishops care about healthcare?

Catholic leaders lobby against abortion and euthanasia, but where's their activism on that other "life" issue?

1. Maybe they will now that they know they can get the masses to rally against healthcare. nt

2. Whenever the masses are oppressed, they get more power.
The great exception of course is communism because communist governments tend to reject Christian rule.

3. It's kind of weird because Catholic nursing nuns always tried to get
health care to as many indigent as they could in the old days in their hospitals. One of my college part time jobs was in a Catholic hospital. Nowadays it seems not to be so true.

4. I once heard it explained like this- first protect the most helpless of all -
the unborn.

Then when they are "safe" (abortions are illegal again) you move up to the next most helpless, etc.

Right now the Church directs all its efforts towards the unborn as they are certainly the most vulnerable. After that issue remedied - then they will focus on the next most fragile group, etc.

7. There's plenty of Catholic activism on health care
I was born in a Catholic hospital, and my mother has been a patient at one several times in recent years. There is generally care available for the poor and indigent at these hospitals.
