Sen. Jim DeMint (R), SC, warns students against Health Care Reform.
Columbia -- U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., brought his anti-government message on health care reform to USC Medical School students Friday, warning the budding professionals of lower-quality care, higher costs and reduced pay when they finish school.

The students, who numbered about 100, pushed back against DeMint's views. They peppered the Upstate lawmaker with their concerns, chief among them the fate of those with pre-existing health conditions.

SNIP...

DeMint, who has become one of the leading voices among Republicans opposing health care reform, told Massey that 70 percent of all Americans' health problems are of their own making.

"There will be some people who are turned down," DeMint said, touting his alternative health care plan. "Don't build a system around those who can't make good decisions."

Me:

I do believe Sen. DeMented (oops!,DeMint) is getting ready to make a run for President. The article is interesting, as are the comments. I couldn't help myself, I listed all the Public services they should turn down (as compiled by DUer's). Thanks, DU!

7. The best--& the worst--thing you can say for DeMint, is that he represents his state.
The majority of South Carolinians pride themselves on a "government should do nothing" attitude, and they are particularly hostile to public education. It has largely to do with racial hatred--conservative white South Carolinians are bound and determined to defund anything that might benefit black folks, too. There are racists everywhere, but the Deep South especially abounds with the kind of white racists who are so deranged that they care less about getting ahead, themselves, than kicking blacks down.
