That Cheney/Rove are screaming about the Torture inquiry tells me that it ISN'T just a token gesture
Eric Holder is striking close to the target.

Rove's tweets on the subject:

Resurgent Republic: Holder’s appt of spc prosecutor 2 investigate CIA not likely 2 be well rec'd by most Americans http://tinyurl.com/n4mhnz

Furious over naming of spc prosecutor 2 investigate CIA 4 use of EITs. Hits at U.S security during time of war. http://tinyurl.com/lj7o4w

... I read that as Rove is scared. And Cheney's comments have been even more revealing:

In an exclusive interview taped to air this weekend on "FOX News Sunday," Cheney called the Justice Department probe of interrogators an "outrageous political act" that will do long-term damage to the United States' capacity to protect the country.

"We had a track record now of eight years of defending the nation against any further mass casualty attacks from al Qaeda. The approach of the Obama administration should be to come to those people who were involved in that policy and say, 'How did you do it? What were the keys to keeping this country safe over that period of time?'" Cheney said.

"Instead, they're out there now threatening to disbar the lawyers who gave us the legal opinions -- threatening contrary to what the president originally said. They're going to go out and investigate the CIA personnel who carried out those investigations," Cheney added.

To those who think the DOJ action by Holder was just a "bone" to throw to the left.... examine the reactions of Cheney and Rove. Think logically. When their volume goes up, you know we've hit a bullseye.

1. Things Like This, Sir, Once They Start, Get a Momentum All their Own
Whatever the intent, this will have to wind up exposing, and charging, a good deal of criminal conduct by higher-ups.

2. Some have misread the statement by Holder IMHO
The part that has been pointed to is the part about not prosecuting people who relied in "good faith" on the torture memos. That in no way limits the prosecutor's attention to people who went beyond them. It can very well include the writers of such memos and those who approved them.

7. Saturation point for the DOJ...And we all know what happens when you tug on a loose thread....
IMHO this is going just as planned. The hands off aproach is only the public aproach. I'm sure they realize the benefit of full disclosure. The other side is in a death spasm as it is. Can you imagine what would happen if the KNEW what happened to get us in Iraq????

Then all those other messy threads. Maybe we could even find peace for the nation in such a cleansing of ideology. I wish big as you can see...
