Teddy Kennedy's death underscores Martin Luther King's legacy, also

Due to the common and tragically intertwined history, the mission of social justice and most of all, the message of compassion.

This death struck so many of us with sadness, the sense of an end of an era... In these "Interesting Times," if feels like a big door is closing and a big door is opening.

A death reminds us of our own mortality, history, legacy. Sets us back on our opinionated, multi-tasking, easily distracted heels and forces us to

FOCUS.

That point of focus, that reality check, with this particular passing, feels like compassion, the message is compassion, the lesson is compassion.

It won't get in our face and yell and play Devil's Advocate and piss us off and pull the rug out.

It will show up unexpected, but invited, speak truth to power, calmly and pull the rug out.

It will shut out the shouters without shutting them up, inclusive of them in an umbrella of compassion and knowing the truth will rain down on them, eventually.
