5. Was it?
Presidential vacation <-----> Congressional recess

Hmmmm ..... it was?

So was every other president's.

Bush just thought August came once a month.

Bush was not the brightest bulb in the string ..... if ya know what I mean.

6. GWB took the entire month of August off
Plus other sundry vacations. The most vacations in the history
of the presidency, in fact.

20. Bush's vacation record:
He took 96 days off in his first eight months.

He spent 40% of his presidency at Camp David, Kennebunkport or Crawford.

He spent an average of three months a year on vacation.

He shattered the record for vacation days of any president ever.

Anyone who has a problem with Obama taking a few weeks off in August can really kiss my ass. He has obviously had zero time off since he was elected, there's not a ton he can do right now (congress is in recess, most of the media is on vacation as are many Americans), and he'll work better after a good rest and some family time.

How can anyone have a problem with that (speaking as someone with no health insurance who has been unemployed for almost a year)?

3. yeah i guess the vacation is more important than people without medical coverage
i guess it all comes down to each individuals priorities in the end, for some protecting a politicians vacation is more important than some calling said pol out for not battling every minute for what they believe...

9. I'd bet a dish of salsa to a dime that he has a phone with him.
Really.

I'm pretty sure he does. And I bet DC's pretty empty of pols right now. So what does it matter where he calls from? And where they are when they answer?

10. Obama has some influence. However, it's up to congress to pass health care
Are you bitching about them being on vacation as loudly as you're bitching about Obama?

Somehow, I don't see the president being isolated on Martha's Vineyard and would think that he is spending some of his time there working.

11. His vacation is more important than the medical coverage of the people bitching about his vacation.
Those people can eat shit and die.

As for regular human beings- it's not like there's a health care bill sitting on his desk waiting for his signature.

12. There is no vacation for my family this year.
Nor will I be golfing, nor will I be taking my kids to the zoo, nor will I be taking my family out for pizza.
The unemployment checks just don't stretch far enough for any of that.

26. hopefully YOUR situation will change for the better....
Sometimes shit happens to good people....keep looking for that elusive job....you'll get it...but don't be negative about someone else and the situation they are in...just cause you can't do the same things at this time....

It does seem childish....and Yes I have a job....I have medical....and I can go on vacation this year....and if I am lucky enough...all those things may still be there next year...but then again I live in Canada...But I still hold out hope for the Great ole USA...cause I have a brother(20) and sister(18) there who need medical care...who need jobs...who are doing what they can, when they can...but they are still happy to have the Big O in that respected(again) office....and that office is where ever he is. I am sure Obama is briefed every day about the Country and what it's facing at any given moment...

He is after all only the president...only ONE part of your government...not like he can push anything thru while the rest are away too..

PICK YOUR BATTLES....THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM...IMHO

uses his vacation benefits just because you're unemployed? I'm sure when you were employed you never took vacations because you were far more devoted to your job than to your health, or spending time with your family, or (God forbid!) just unwinding and having fun once in a while. I'm sure if he had a heart attack in the Oval Office because he was too stressed out by not taking vacation, and he had to go to the hospital, you'd be pissed because he used his government-provided health care while you have none.

I have only had two paid vacations in my 20 years in the workforce, but I don't begrudge Obama for spending time with his family and relaxing--especially when the rest of DC is pretty much on vacation.

32. Nor will I.
But, I don't begrudge the President a week with his family. He wasn't the one who cost me my job of 20 years. Nor is it his fault I'm having difficulty finding another permanent job. At least he's trying to fix things. Given the complete, utter shitmess he is trying to clean up, he deserves more than a week. If I had his job, I probably would have shot myself months ago.

18. Holy smokes! There are people without medical coverage?!
And if he was in the White House, Obama could wave a magic wand and grant medical coverage to each and every one of them right this very second? That heartless bastard!

Wait; what?

That's not true at all?

Oh.

I guess that doesn't make any sense at all, then.

Seriously, the Freeps are in full-on obsessive compulsive mode over a week at Martha's Vineyard.

If you can stomach the bilge, it's a real study in... something.
