Things that make you say "Huh?"
George W. Bush set the all-time record for "vacations" while occupying the Oval Office, yet, this went largely unnoticed by the MSM.
President Obama takes his first family vacation after over seven months in office and the GOP buys an ad to criticize him for it.
HUH?

A man who made a Biblical-reference joke about a "burning bush" during the Bush administration was arrested, prosecuted and convicted by a Federal court, eventually doing 37 months in prison.
In the Obama administration, men carry loaded semi-automatic rifles and pistols while displaying signs which clearly call for shedding the blood of government officials. "No problem. Just exercising their sacred 2nd Amendment rights."
HUH?

George W. Bush virtually never delivered a speech to an audience that wasn't composed of military subordinates or invited and thoroughly screened loyal "guests".
President Obama has given numerous addresses to "first come, first serve" totally open to the public audiences and has encountered some tough questions and people who were obviously not supporters. The only comment by the MSM is to ask if Obama is "losing control" of the health care debate.
HUH?

During the Bush Administration, the GOP-controlled Congress gave W. a blank check for all things military and anti-Muslim and passed the 2003 Medicare prescription legislation without even ONCE suggesting that "How will we pay for it?" be definitively answered before action could be taken.
In 2009, "How will we be pay for it?" is suddenly the smirking response to ANY health care legislation proposed.
HUH?

For the first six years of the Bush administration, the stated attitude of the GOP was "To the victor belong the spoils" and "Elections have consequences".
Now that Democrats have majorities in both houses of Congress and a popular president in the White House, these same folks demand a "bipartisan" approach to all legislation and have recently defined that as "75 to 80" votes in the Senate.
HUH?

There are plenty of other examples, but I am lucky enough to be employed despite eight years of Bush's rape of the middle class and tomorrow is a work day.

3. It's quite amazing....
the irony, the hypocrisy, the double standards, I'm amazed more people don't notice it or catch on. Then again most people seldom pay good enough attention.

4. Excellent Rant!
I've been wondering about the same things. My only theory is IOKIYAR. It would be nice if Obama or some of the Dems in Congress start pointing out all of this blatant hypocrisy, particularly since a lot of people have way too short memories, particularly indies whom voted for Obama and now claim to be upset about the deficit and accusing Obama making it worse even though I am sure many of them gave Bush a "pass" on HIS spending habits. That really irks me about this HCR debate! If we have the money for wars of choice, we have money for HCR and other domestic priorities too. simple as that IMHO.

6. I wish those who have un rec'ed would post and tell us why
When I recommended this post just a moment ago it was at eight, then stayed at eight with my rec. Then I posted my response and it showed seven rec.

Please tell us, those who are unrecommending, why you are doing so to this very straight forward and uncontroversial post.

7. I've come to expect it.
The majority of my posts seem to get an unrec or two, usually after they've picked up a few recs. I have noticed, as you did just now, that posts which I have recommended seem to get unrecs for no apparent reason. I suspect some of it is from trolls, but some of it has to be from "one of us".

I'm sure there are plenty of my posts which some feel are totally mistaken or inappropriate or just downright silly. But, like you, I don't see what tripped someone's trigger in this OP.

Thanks for caring enough to ask for a reason.

8. It's a classic Rove technique: Attack the strength
Edited on Sun Aug-23-09 11:41 PM by RufusTFirefly
Imagine an election where a genuine war hero is always on the defensive while discussing the whereabouts of a deserter is utterly taboo.

That was 2004.

The Rove technique is to attack the strength, not the weakness.

Pres. Obama's time off is brief and well-deserved, unlike the excessive vacationing that Dubya did. What better way to create confusion than to attack Obama? Meanwhile, Republicans are calling the Democrats fascists. That's a classic example. Accuse your enemy of what you are before they have a chance to train those accusations on you.

It's utterly absurd.

And it works.

Obama hits golf course to start vacation
President Barack Obama played tennis with his wife and golf with his buddies Monday, starting his first vacation in office on Martha's Vineyard, a picturesque island known as a refuge for the wealthy and privileged.

21. how to do a screengrab
There's likely a key labeled prt sc or something similar on your keyboard. Press it, and whatever is on the screen goes into the clipboard, and you can then control v it into Paint or whatever to crop it and tidy it up. This works on just about everything except some videos.

26. And people here are SURPRISED???
Seriously, how does this surprise you???

Did you really think Obama was going to get the free ride Bush did?

Did you really expect Republicans to quietly accept minority status?

Did you really expect the "mainstream" media to shift allegiance?

Did you really expect them even to be neutral??

And you've been around here how long???

Seriously, who here really thought the Republicans or MSM would not go with the double standard that's served them so well? Sure, the Repos are in the minority now, but apparently, nobody's figured that out yet. Certainly not the MSM! And, hell, with the hammering Obama's getting from their side and ours, they may never even have to acknowledge it. Everything will be back to "normal" before anyone realizes it ever changed!

Nah, wake me when the rest of our Democrats aren't just talking like Barney Frank, but kicking ass and taking names, to boot.

THAT just might make the front page.
