5. The OP didn't say that
It's not a competition. NONE OF IT should be allowed. If they go after Imus they should also go after the others. The OP is simply pointing out that that has not happened.

6. It's going to be interesting the next time one of the RW hate radio hosts goes on a racist rant
Because Imus' comments are now the bar for dismissal.

It will happen, and probably fairly soon. I bet the worst offenders (Rush, Hannity, Savage, etc) are scared shitless, as well they should be.

9. Because none of them have said Cheney should be hung for treason.
IMO, Imus deserves backlash but do recognize that he has become a convenient target for PENT UP backlash as so many broadcasters have said worse from all corners and have gotten away with it for many years, creating an atmosphere of casualness for their 'joking around' that disrespects many groups of people.

10. there is a straightforward reason
Why Imus is supposedly singled out. It was personalized to a few young women, some barely out of high school, for no apparent reason. All they did was win basketball games. They didn't run for office, were not involved in politics, etc.

Blanket racist statements are really horrible, no doubt. But unfortunately Limbaugh and the like are a little too smart to attack innocent young women who are not connected to politics in any way, shape or form.
