Why are people going of their way to demonize the Lacrosse players?
A recap of the reasons I've actually seen today for hating young men who clearly did NOT rape a stripper.

A) They're rich, and thus are probably assholes.
B) They hired strippers for a frat party, and thus probably hate women.
C) They're white and privileged, and thus probably have never known pain or suffering, so this is working out quite well for them.
D) Their exoneration got more media coverage than black athletes would garner, which is completely their fault.
E) They probably actually did it, and it's a huge racist conspiracy.
F) They robbed us of an opportunity to criticize rich, white, privileged males, who are more often than not behind everything else we criticize, so we might as well bash them anyway despite their innocence.

I'm learning more about my fellow DU'ers everyday.

1. An excellent summary! Yeah, it can be depressing.
But hopefully a few people have learned something about the need for presumption of innocence, as a result of this case.

2. all of the above, apparently
It's amazing how many people on here are in favor of destroying these young men's lives, and how many people are still defending that woman and what she did. In fairness, I think a lot of these idiots are trolls and in no way represent the opinion of the genuine members here. I wouldn't be surprised if said trolls IP addresses could be traced to Fox News headquarters in New York. :hint hint:

3. I don't need your facts
and statements by the judge to find someone guilty! I have a little thing called "intuition," which by the way has helped me discover the best italian food in town and the fastest way to work! So, eat it!

4. Like the media, people are quick to condemn, crucify and execute........

BEFORE the REAL facts are known; it is a lynch mob mentality. Though I am no fan of Imus, I feel the same mentality is operating with his backfired attempt at outrageous humor. The Roman Colosseum is alive and well and the lions will be released momentarily.

5. Admission of error is hard...so some are rationalizing
What I am hoping for is discplinary actions against students and faculty at Duke, espcially the 88 for how the treated the accused and some of the non-accused LAX players. There really need to be some sanctions.
