If asked to explain the current health insurance reform idea....
could you?

If asked to explain a proposal that simply removed the restrictions for qualifying for Medicare (over 65 or on disability), could you explain that?

Why did we take the more difficult route? Why design a whole new system to run alongside a system that is already in place, a system that we could have spent all this time and political capital fixing, and ended up with an even better Medicare?

And why didn't the people in charge (whoever that is, I'm not even sure anymore) figure out that pushing for Medicare-for-all would have put the so-called "conservadems" and blue dogs on the spot: Do they or do they not support Medicare? (This would have also placed all Republicans on the hot seat to answer the same question.)

This thing is screwed up now b/c it seems like very little planning and strategy was done.

3. That's what bothers me. It can't be incompetence.

The Obama team's best asset is message delivery.

Why, suddenly, did they lose that?

I'm starting to believe the stories of back-room deals with private industry. Which, if true, makes Obama....less than honest. Let's just put it that way.

4. But even beyond delivery, look at the effect
The simple one would cut an estimated $400 billion out of national health care expenses a year. The complicated solution would save, well, a complex amount that probably can't be boiled down to a solid number.

So...it makes me really, really wonder.
