The way I would look at it is even if I weren't arrested and if the government kept any kind of list of people who were possibly ready to go Tim McVeigh, my name would go on that list if I ever pulled a stunt like that. Probable all my family, friends and associates names would be added to the same list. If someone I knew, or worked with did something that stupid I don't know him no more. If its your a family member your kind of stuck.

What do you think?

1. Under the Bush administration that would have been a one-way ticket
to Guantanamo.

2. Dear God NO! Under no circumstances whatsoever.
It is asking for trouble to do that in an already-stirred-up crowd, no matter what political persuasion, and, for that matter, regardless who's president. And it's just bad karma anyway, imo.

18. You're so correct. I ended up shoving one RW nutjob
at a Kerry rally. If I or he had been packing it might've been a disaster. IMHO political rallies are too damn volatile for most to be packing firearms.

23. Truly. The coals are already glowing with these people. Adding some armed 2nd Amendment
hard-ass with an attitude would be like adding a nice big splash of lighter fluid.

4. The snipers on the roof scared the shit out of me as it was.
I don't own a gun so I'm probably not the right person to ask but - no - even if I did own one, I would never bring a gun to a protest. Ever.

8. Fuck no, and if I had slept walked out of the house with my grampa's .38 in hand
and then had woken up at the site of a Bush speech I would fully expect to be shot dead or tackled and tazed and dragged off someplace where only the Red Cross could come see me 2 times a year.

And in the second place, NO, because no matter how I despised Bush, showing up with a gun sends a message NOBODY should be sending. One side shows up with guns to send a "silent message", then the other side counter demonstrates with their guns, and pretty soon your country is barreling down a road it won't come back from.

9. No
Guns were banned at Camp Casey even though we were fairly certain the Bush supporters who came to Crawford were carrying. And in all the time I spent down there, I can't remember anyone ever trying to bring a gun. Alcohol and drugs were also banned and I do remember one time a guy got kicked out for drinking but never any guns.

15. PERMITS should be getting checked
Any of these places where a permit is required they ought to be making anyone who is carrying show the permit as a matter of public safety. And announce it before hand that permits will be checked and cross checked against other id. That will reduce the number willing to be an asshole like this if they know there name is getting taken.

Another option would be for US to take cameras and relentlessly photograph any one carrying. Its is oure right to take their picture if they want to be an asshole and carry a weapon into a public place.

Then send all the photos to the Secret Service in case anything ever does happen.

Record their fucking license plates numbers too.

Having a loaded assault weapon at a political forum is as about as appropriate as having an erection at a day care center.

25. Where the President actually is, inside the Secret Service secured zone? No way.
In the general vicinity of a Presidential event, outside the secure area? Yes, of course; the same rules apply there as everywhere else, and I hold a NC CHL. Anyone outside the secure zone is NOT a threat to the President.
