1. Would that be the one that Mike Moore bought in Cuba for a nickle?

6. I don't know, but it would help if we could legally trade with them.
As it stands if a drug is developed in Cuba, we can't use it. How fucked up is that?

10. Watch Michael Moore's Sicko.
A lady firefighter was paying over $100 for an inhalor, due to lung damage from 9/11. When Moore took her to Cuba, she found Cuba sold the same inhalor for a nickel. Needless to say, she bought a bagful.

Who cares where they got it, and why can't we get the same discount?

34. Just a movie and you can't deny the truth of it. Oh, by the way, it's better
to quote a Mike Moore movie than it is to just make up shit. You have yet to offer a single fact. Why are you so passionately defending the drug companies? Friends of yours?

39. I do yard work
I have no insurance and my wife is wheel chair bound what little money we make goes to pay bills. I am still not fool enough to look to a tyrant like fidel for advice. I would like to see our high health care costs come down as much as anyone but so far I have never been refused help by any doctor or hospital and the have been more than happy with me paying what I can on any money I owe them. As for you calling me a troll I don't remember calling you any names. Michael Moore weighs over 300 pounds and I will not consider him being an expert on anything other than stuffing his face.John F. Kennedy did not like the way Cuba does things either ad I am proud to share that issue with him. Good day sir!

36. Really? Everytime I turn around. Wow.
I mean I can turn pretty fast.

Here's another one and another. And another.

Wheee. Lawsuits.

Oh, unless you didn't really mean that. Unless tort reform is complete BS. Unless you have bought, hook, line and sinker, the BS that corporations have been pushing. You do realize that only about 2% of frivolous lawsuits even get a court date. And of those only a few of them ever get out of arraignment?

What you are talking about is about as real as the mercedes driving welfare momma that Reagan was always harping on about. You know, the one that has NEVER BEEN FOUND after 30 years of looking.

Class action and other lawsuits are the ONLY defence most of us have against the criminal activities of corporations. And the payouts would be a fraction of what they are if we had single payer in the US because the main cost on any of those suits is ongoing care.

Got any more red herrings, o bait of flamers?

17. What would probably be a much shorter list is those drugs developed WITHOUT US taxpayers funding.
http://www.yaledailynews.com/articles/view/10127?badlink=1

During the recent heated arguments about AIDS drug access and Medicare prescription drug bills, a few facts have emerged that would shock any reasonable American taxpayer: that while so many persons struggle for access to medicines, 85 percent of the basic and clinical research for drugs on our market today was funded by taxpayers. And yet the industry reaping the benefits for our high drug costs -- making three times the profit of the Fortune 500 average -- spends only 11 percent of its revenue on Research and Development (R&D) and 27 percent on marketing, according to Families USA.

Those who are ill with treatable diseases are charged twice in the prescription drug game -- once by the IRS, and a second time by the pharmacy. But there's a way to regulate the pharmaceutical industry that offers hope to the elderly and those who cannot afford vital medicines.

18. This is a strawman.
I'm not sure what your point is....

Most US drugs are developed with US taxpayer funding, since we are the wealthiest nation on the planet we SHOULD be getting these drugs for a nickel. But instead we allow Big Pharma to extort whatever price they think they can get away with.... The actual price of the inhaler probably is a lot cheaper than $122 but that's what Americans are forced to pay. While in Cuba they actually value healthcare and will subsidize drug costs or provide them at cost.

Have you heard about Cuba's medical training program? Trains Americans for free to become MDs. Perhaps you can give me a list of US medical schools that train Americans to become doctors for free?

9. But they charge you like....$122?
I use a different inhaler and my co-pay went from $10 to $38. The regular inhaler would make me cough. My doctor finally told me it was the propellant and switched me to Ventolin. I can barely afford it with the $135 co-pay for my other drugs. It could be worse tho................

32. Lucky I have a prescription plan. Just got 4 Combivent inhalers for $90.
200 Activations each. My plan makes you get your prescriptions in 3 month orders. Without the insurance I think the inhaler goes for about $130.

25. There's a lot of fraud coming from pharmacies there.
Our asthma advocate group warned us that fraudulent inhalers were coming out of India and to be extremely careful.

BTW, I feel that pain--asthmatic mom with four asthmatic kids (one is severe). This is why we never have new cars--what would go into a car payment easily has to pay for our meds (and then some during pneumonia season).
