Front page headline above the fold
Edited on Sat Aug-15-09 09:53 PM by drmeow
in today's Arizona Repulsive, er, Republic ... NOT exactly a liberal paper:

"Who's behind the health protests?" (1/2" letters)
"Special interests, wealthy driving dissent" (3/8" letters)

From McClatchy Newspapers - Article starts with "Much of the money and strategy behind the so-called grass-roots groups organizing opposition to the Democrats' health-care plans comes from conservative political consultants, professional organizers and millionaires, some with financial stakes in the outcome."

They also had an editorial yesterday about how reasonable debate is important but the tactics at the town hall meetings are a problem.

Could it be that even the right wing media is going to actually do their job for a change?

On edit: I need to write them to thank them for this story.

3. Rachel Maddow is putting a lot of pressure on everyone
on this issue.

This issue may actually break down right wing media.

4. Maybe they're facing layoffs from their jobs too
Newspapers aren't doing well. I bet subscriptions have dropped a lot because it isn't a necessary expense. Now the owners are looking into a future that doesn't look good for their papers or their business skills running them. Suddenly that health insurance doesn't look so secure anymore.

5. I hadn't opened mine yet until I read this--and there it is. Coming from a LONG time reader,
that's pretty amazing.

Good on 'em.
