2. This is ridiculous
I've lived almost fifty-two years, only to end up with a clown as my hero. :)

3. So Dems are taking over the center, and even the "rational right",
while pissing off the far left, and leaving the wackos to the GOPers - except the wackos too far right even for them.
A new party or 2 in the future?

4. The real conservatives should join the Blue Dogs and form a real Conservative Party.
Of course, they'll still be wrong about everything, but we could get out of this nightmarish situation where we have two parties and one of them is batshit crazy. You can't govern America properly with that setup.

Wrong I can handle, crazy not so much.

5. Part of forming
a governing majority in a two party system is capturing the bulk of the political center. It may not be pretty, but it is the only thing that works in this system. In multiparty parlimentary systems, a "coalition government" is formed. While the process is external to party boundaries, you get much the same result in terms of actual policy. When the compromise that forms the coalition fails, a "vote of no confidence" passes and a new election to form a new coalition is called. While the process is different, capturng enough of the center to command majority support, is common to both systems.

The result you observe is true but also an inevitable part of winning elections and running the country.
