Action required. The heart of right wing attacks is constant use of 'the government', 'bureaucrat'.
'bureaucratic controls', some bureaucrat, 'can't trust the government'. can't trust government bureaucracy.

We need to put our foot down and make them define what they mean by the 'government' and bureaucrat.

Obvously, the government is us - we have representatives who try to get things done, they hire people to do it. Some we vote upon - judges, sheriffs. They are the government.

Obviously, a guest like Gingrich was a bureaucrat. A guest like Issa is still a bureacrat. Our sister is a bureaucrat the way they define it just by heading a government department in a remote town.

If their only purpose is to privatize everything - replace every government employee with a corporate employee such as Blackwater, Rand, Kellogg-Brown-Root, Haliburton, name any accounting firm - we need to force them to say it.

The poor underperforming heads on their followers can't figure it out on their own and we must help them by developing a glossary and get them to commit to is one definition at a time - in our arguments, in our interviews, with progressive journalism.

We've got to break down this wall of misusing terms and know it so well ourselves that we can stop them in their misguided rants and correc their path. One by one by one.

Anyone know anyone at one of the alternative media organziations who has the definitions down. Or does anyone know if anyone has written anything on what I'm referring to.\

We can stop this. They are demeaning our country. It is unpatriotic.

1. republicons like gingrich and the rest of them
just use words and phrases that they know will inject negativity into the listener who doesn't have the capacity to think for themselves. They're playing to the very dumbest Americans because through their constant lies and ineptness ..that's all they have left.

2. government bureaucrat vs. corporate bureaucrat
I'll take the government any day -- no profit motive. CEO of USA's salary: $400,000. CEO of United HealthCare salary: ~$12 million.

8. I'm flattered.
That's the first time anyone at DU has said that to me. Use it, change it, improve it.

9. That's what needs to be said
We really need to drive it into people's heads that insurance company bureaucrats are making their health care decisions right now, not doctors.

14. Yes, yes, and yes. ....
How many people really hate their bosses but feel trapped by their jobs? Wonder if there's a way to capitalize on that feeling when it comes to coporate insurance.

3. They've been selling that lie for 30+ years. Check Lakoff's work on reframing issues...
... for any hope at all of stopping them.

10. It's a lie based on just enough truth to propagate.
Government bureaucrats have often earned their reputation for inefficient indifference.

What I don't get is how the 'baggers/birthers have been kept from noticing the active malice of Big Insurance's bueaucrats and executives.

11. A classic case of misdirection: "Look over there! Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"
The cons are good at it, I have to give that to them.

15. No, they're not good at it. Really, they're not.
They are astonishingly clumsy. However, their claims are reinforced by the television, and frankly, we suck as bullshit detectors.

4. It would seem to me that one of the things we could do here on DU
would be to create letters to the editor that could be used by any of us to send to our local papers. I have written some myself but often I do not know how to break the articles down to 250 words or less and get the message across. The above issue is one example. As activists we could move this health care thing along by more of us writing letters. The problem is that if two us send the same letter to our local paper they are going to ignore both. Is there some way that we can help DUers write each week without duplications?

5. Don't forget they demonetizing Socialism as if it were something evil.
While the ignorant conservatism fed by the seditious treason by the likes of Hannity and Limbaugh as they defecate daily across the land with impunity is ok .

To get anywhere, we have to take back the real definition of Social, Socialize, Socialism, etc.
To the religious, we have to hammer home that we are our brother's keeper, as per their Christ.

The disconnects with reality of the conservatives are getting to be ridiculous.

7. You have to have a bureaucrat, whether it's to protect premium or tax dollars or the doctors will

steal every last dime of it.

16. They love the bureaucracy of people evicted by the sheriff (gov bureaucrat) acting for the mortgage
company (corp bureaucrat) who may not be able to supply the mortgage paper because it has been traded many times (corp bureaucrats) with an eye-wink from congress (government bureaucrats).

13. How many people actually have had to deal with a "govermnent bureaucrat" beyond
the IRS or the DMV on any regular basis? Chances are you've dealt a lot with your health insurance person, if you have insurance many more times than you have a government official or clerk. Now I agree with you that the media is a problem as well as the polticians who conveniently forget that they are part of the government when it comes to ratcheting up rhetoric. Howwever, you can stop with labelling people "unpatriotic" any time you want. We spent years chafing under that label from the RW ourselves and I don't care to see us be come them. There are more constructive ways of changing the nature of the dialogue, or creating dialoge, without that.
