Town Hall Proposal
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 04:20 PM by Jeff In Milwaukee
I was reading the latest "New Rules" post from Bill Maher over on Huffington Post, and one line in it really caught my attention. It was with regard to the morons who are coming out to these town hall meetings with their crackpot conspiracy theories and such. Says Bill:

"We should forget town halls, and replace them with study halls"

That's a damned fine idea, and in that spirit, I'd like to offer this modest proposal.

Representatives returning to their districts should develop a relatively simply 10-question quiz on Civics. Something that should be easy for any high school senior to pass. Simple stuff -- Name the three branches of government. Against whom did the United States fight in the War of 1812? That kind of thing.

And unless you can score a minimum of seven out of ten correct, YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO SAY A FUCKING WORD. That's right. You're too friggin' stupid to have an opinion worth listening to, but if you shut your pie hole for 90 minutes and listen to the smart kids having a discussion, you just might learn something.

That's my contribution to American Political Discourse for today.
