My camera is doing weird things. These pics just showed up.


This is the girl who was so proud of her sign that she held it up even higher when she was told it was racist.







And this guy claimed he paid $6000 a month for health insurance.
I guess that's why he can't afford a better video camera.

Sign taper was mad and a heated conversation took place. Turned out the guy who took the sign down owned the shop.




Cop followed sign taper and stood close to him for awhile.

I watched this lady as she walked up to several different African Americans and told them abortion was the 21st century eugenics for the black race and Obama wanted to annihilate them. I watched her for about a half hour; I was so stunned that she was saying this. Then I was standing by 2 African American women when she said that to them and I told her she was grossly misinformed as well as rude and she needed to go away. And she walked off without responding.

I guess what struck me the most was the anger. This wasn't democracy, it was a mob. They were offered the chance to sign in and speak one on one with the congressman but I didn't see any of them do that. They wanted to be a mob and yell and scream. They were really angry when the congressman didn't address the crowd. They kept chanting YOU WORK FOR US and JUST SAY NO and NO WE CAN'T but they fizzled out pretty fast since they weren't responding to anyone and no one really responded to them. We would chant HEALTH CARE NOW and they shut up.

Later a man came over to talk to me and an African American woman and was explaining why he opposed government health care. He said he was 56 and didn't have to worry about refusing Medicare since it would be broken by the time he was old enough to be eligible. He then said he had just had a conversation with a young "African American woman over there" and he pointed and went on to tell us what she had said. When he was done I asked him why it was necessary to describe the woman he talked to as African American. (That really had nothing to do with what he was telling us. I think he just wanted to let this other African American woman know that he wasn't afraid to talk to black people.) He froze. Then he stuttered "Well because she WAS African American" And I asked what difference that made. He froze again. The African American woman I was with said "Answer her question. Why did you have to describe her as African American?" He then threw up his hands and walked off.

One of my friends told me he heard the N word several times. I didn't but I picked up this under the table attitude that they really wanted to convince everyone they really LIKED black people. Why they were more than willing to engage in conversation with them! But the things they said were inappropriate. And the JOKER signs were everywhere. It was pretty grotesque.

The health care reform bill should lower your costs. And he said no, not if it is socialized medicine. I pressed him. I said come on, you are a businessman and you don't want to save money on health insurance for your employees? And he said he could afford it so no, he didn't care.

So then another person asked him what his business was and he said he loaned people money. By that time I had no more patience for him and I said oh so you are either a Wall Street bank that got a bailout or you own one of those payday loan places. He said so what and I said you take advantage of people for a living, wow, you should be so proud. And he walked away.

BTW, amazing how so many of them look "familiar" to me. I wish I could codify that look. There's just a "style" that so many hardcore conservatives adopt. After a while you can sort of "spot" 'em.

39. A tip for your camera problems - reformat the memory card

Of course, make sure all the pictures are copied off first, but then reformat the card in the camera, not in your computer. That should help some unless the card is going bad.

If you are viewing the card on your computer (not through the camera but in a card slot) that can cause problems when the operating system is making thumbnails. The computer writes the thumbnails to the card and that messes up the card. Again, the answer is to reformat the card in the camera - and disable viewing the pictures from the card in the operating system.

That needed to be re-formatted. I even bought a new card, but had the same problem. Then I realized it had only started doing it when I started using Windows XP and the damn slideshow thing was writing thumbnails to my memory card even after I tried to stop it. I set the OS to not automatically open the card to a slideshow but every time there is an update for Windows it changes my preferences. So now I just reformat the card every time I download all the pictures. Problem solved - and it also speeds up saving the pics as I take them since the camera can write to the card faster and free up the buffer faster.

Never really had a problem with downloads, unless it was a RAW format before iPhoto learned how to read them properly. RAW downloads lock up the system. They gotta go into a file instead, then batched processed in Photoshop before iPhoto will take them without complaint.

How do I reformat the card? I leave it in the camera and download pics straight from the camera to the computer. Yesterday the battery died, I recharged it and then downloaded the pics. A bunch were missing. Then last night I noticed those missing pics were still in the camera so I downloaded them.

I hope nothing is wrong with the camera. It is an expensive 35 mm my DH bought me for my birthday last year. I asked for a $100 camera that fit in my pocket and he got this monstrosity instead. But it is indeed a great camera that takes wonderful pictures.
