LOOK at what Politico did with the Palin quote....unbelievable
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/8/8/763586/-Idiot-Nation,-Idiot-Press

What Palin Said:

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's "death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society," whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

How Politico reported it:

Palin calls Dems healthcare plan "evil," cites threat to Trig

Describing Democratic healthcare plans as "evil," Sarah Palin is warning that the proposals being debated in Washington could threaten the life of Trig, her Down Syndrome infant boy.

Palin, in her first policy statement since resigning as Alaska governor, wrote on her Facebook page Friday afternoon that the sick, elderly and disabled would suffer should healthcare be rationed, as conservatives claim it will with a public option. <...>

Seriously? Seriously?

Yes, seriously. It falls to Politico to take a story about a national figure making up wholesale a crooked and ridiculous story about how Democratic "Death Panels" are coming after her disabled child if we dare reform healthcare, and turn it into an absolutely straight news story.

Well done, Politico. Absolutely masterful. I couldn't come up with a more embarrassing example of the national political media as lazy, stupid, worse-than-useless prop if I tried.

1. Oh, my God, that's pathetic.

They'll do anything they can to make her sound somewhat rational, won't they? That is totally NOT what she said.

And :hi:, AnnInLA. I haven't talked to you in a while.

2. Sometimes I think Politico should be a banned source for OPs here.
But then nearly every MSM outlet has done this sort of anti-Pulitzer reportage.

:puke:

3. Just how exactly is it "unbelievable" again?
Politico posted the exact Palin quote, and even followed up with fact checking Palin's nonsense. I didn't see the title as misleading at all and it pretty accurately sums up what the dingbat said.

7. have to agree with you there. did anybody else click on the Politico link?
I don't like the way they characterized what she said, but they sure did post the whole quote, and showed that it was bogus, as far as the 'death panels' go.

I'd say the kos link is more disingenuous than politico in this case, and I HATE those creeps

ever read Glenn Greenwald's expose of them

it's online and in his book

8. If anything I think DailyKos was more misleading
Their link to the Politico story wasn't obvious and could easily be overlooked.

10. I didn't have any trouble, just clicked on the orange politico line. that said,
I scrolled more than halfway down the comments page, and not ONE response showed that they'd read the actual article. if any of the respondees did, they're also disingenuous

if I had a subscription there, I'd point it out

do you?

this doesn't look so good, AFA comprehension skills/honesty...take your pick

11. So you're basing public opinion on the morans that post comments under articles?
If people are too stupid to actually read anything past the title and make up their own minds, I don't hold out much hope for them anyway.

13. It's not too hard to find that behavior wherever you look
I'm just not so sure it really amounts to much. I'm still waiting for an explanation as to what was so misleading about the title in the first place. The only thing that's really "unbelievable" about it is how Palin could be so completely stupid as to make such a claim that is so easily debunked, but even that is not all that "unbelievable" because that's just par for the course with Palin. Anyone who subscribes to her bullshit doesn't care about reality anyway. Anyone who knows she is full of shit is just going to chalk it up to more of her incoherent ramblings, and anyone who is sitting on the fence can even figure out form the Politico article that she's clearly trying to mislead, even if they don't care to research it any farther.

4. Politico is pathetic, and a complete waste of a mouse click.
'Politico'. 'Drudge'. Not much of a difference there.

Master Propagandists just don't get any respect anymore.

9. Fair point; cleaning that up took some work.
Someone's invested in making sure it's a ball game. Instead of, say, a sane national conversation.

6. Her first policy statement on Facebook should tell you all you need to know..
but that's just for people with 2 or more brain cells.
