How Do The Racists Stand Watching Pro & College Sports?

They can't stand that a black man is president, yet they watch football, baseball and all kinds of other sports that have huge numbers of minority super stars. Do they watch these athletes thinking the whole time that they took a job away from a white man? Or is about authority and who's leading the teams (ie: the predominantly white coaches and owners)?

Or, is there some huge disconnect that defies explanation?

It did take a while to type it up so I was just assuming we just crossed paths. My bad.

We live just north of the river and all of the tornadoes tend to hit on the other side. We got surprised last year when one went through my neighbor across the street's backyard. That tornado killed a little boy in the next couple of towns over. I've been around these parts for over 50 years and have only ever seen a tornado on this side of the river one other time (over 40 years ago). We pay closer attention now.

It's entertainment.

Historically, minorities who were entertainers have enjoyed access to all manner of advantages that would otherwise be unavailable to them.

Sports is entertainment for the masses.

Though there aren't a lot of minorities in NASCAR, AFAIK.

had they been around when Jackie Robinson moved to the majors, it would have been a whole different thing.

I'm sure for a lot of them it is just a knee jerk political response and has nothing to do with Obama's race but for others that is the issue whether they admit it or not. A Black POTUS who is obviously smarter than they are, is a threat to their self image.

The quarterback is the player on the field who gives the orders. The racist doesn't like the idea of a black guy giving orders. He could probably deal with a black guy receiving a pass or blocking a tackle, just not telling other people what to do.

I remember watching college football with my BF's grandfather and uncle (I realized both are racist assholes) a few years ago and they were LIVID that a black guy had took the place the injured white quaterback. They talked plenty of trash. When the black guy started kicking ass and doing great, both of them got quiet. My BF and I started cheering on the guy knowing it was pissing them off and making them feel stupid. Later on we went into the kitchen and laughed at them for being idiots.

It's really very simple. All those athletes still answer to "the man", who is white (unless there are some black team owners I don't know about).

At least my brother does. My friend who knows him suggested that it's because there are virtually no minorities playing, unlike basketball, football, baseball, even horse racing. The only sport he ever watches is hockey and the more RW he became, the more obsessed he was about hockey... and cowboys.
