PETA starts 'Cash for Cluckers' program to lessen chicken consumption

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals(PETA) will never shy away from actions that generate headlines. The animal rights group latest foray into advocacy mirrors the recenty-revived "Cash for Clunkers" auto rebate program.

Their plan: Get chicken products off Americans' dinner plates using the "Cash for Cluckers" food rebate plan.

Citing people's new found taste for vegetarian chicken-substitutes, PETA said it would give $1 to Americans who buy chickenless cutlets or nuggets.

Just send PETA your receipt proving your purchase of chickenless products and they will send you $1 and a vegetarian starter kit. But act soon, rebates go to the first 5,000 respondents and only lasts from August 6 to September 30.

"We've decided to offer consumers a rebate on their first taste of that faux goodness," says the "Cluckers" website.

PETA said their program will lessen "animal suffering" and lessen carbon emissions by decreasing the amount of chickens processed for food.

Of course, that would help the abstinence people indirectly and we can't have that; we need increases of disease infections and unwanted babies to keep the doctors and privatized jails rich...
