Fox & friends: bring your guns. There will be blood shed, and most, if not all of it will be ours.
Bringing guns to town hall meetings is not our way. But as the Republicans and their orc-like minions seem to
think the Second Amendment says to use guns if words don't win your arguments or elections on their own, they
will incite enough of their nut cases to brings firearms (for their own self-defense, dontcha know) to some of
these meetings, and some of them will use them. In many cases, law enforcement (sic) will not protect us. They
will arrest us if we fight back in kind. This is by no means the case everywhere, but it IS the case in some
places, and that is where the violence will begin.

It will start off innocently enough. Someone will try to shove their way in where they are not welcome. They will
demand their constitutional right to "free speech," and feel perfectly justified in using their guns to get it ("if
you're licensed to carry...carry"). After the first or second death, the urge to fight back in kind, or at least
exercise the right to self-defense, will take over, and the Fox-inspired (and desired) carnage will begin. The
right-wing calls to law and order will be loud, and should any of their minions be among the victims, and make no
mistake, they want their martyrs, they will probably be naming airports after them in no time flat.

Rupert Murdoch is rubbing his hands with glee, as is Roger Ailes and the crazies he lords over. Glenn Beck's call
for his followers to restrain themselves is about as believable as a Sarah Palin claim to coherency.

I hate it. This is not what Obama's election was about, this is not what our country used to be about. But I do not
see it abating, and I see ugly incidents ahead.

I hope I'm wrong.

If ACORN/SEIU attends these townhalls for disruption, stop being peaceful and hurt them. Badly #iamthemob

At the point of innocent Americans getting hurt, these nuts are terrorists and should be taken away. (Per the Patriot Act).

4. They're nihilists, Donny...nothing to be afraid of
From what I've seen of the overfed Baby Huey motherfuckers disrupting these meetings, they're not going to risk their gelatinous backsides by bringing firearms to a venue where the possibility of being overpowered and getting sodomized with their own weapon exists.

5. If only. Unfortunately, you are wrong.
when they carry guns (and I guarantee you it is only a matter of time until they do) and attend future meetings, they will feel what a cop buddy of mine calls the "invisible gun shield." First these morans have spent minimal time on a shooting range (which makes them experts). Going to a meeting, and having a loaded weapon in their hands, they feel not just superior, but super powerful. My cop buddy says that these are the most dangerous of all people. Even armed crooks are safer, according to him, because crooks realize that cops are good shots, and get lots of practice. Armed crooks try to avoid shoot outs, because they die. That kind of self-limiting street smarts is nowhere to be found in the birther movement, or their illegitimate kin who attack health care meetings.

These nihilists (I don't agree with that choice of words, either. They hold far more than negative opinions) don't have the brains to realize that guns are dangerous. Instead, they will be empowered. And therefore, they will use that power. People will die. And it will be Fox' fault.

9. The average gun enthusiast is a better shot than the average cop.
Range time is just a part of the job for most cops.

It's recreation for most gun enthusiasts.

If we were talking about the average gang-banger, I'd agree with you. We're not. We're talking about people who have been shooting (in many cases) since they were children.

27. True, but not many cops do, either.
There are a lot of civilians who shoot well. Some of those have seen more tactical situations than the average police officer (ex-military, for example).

...and, let's face it...it doesn't take a lot of tactical training to do a lot of damage given a gun and a crowd.

I'm just suggesting that people not underestimate some of the well-trained nuts who may show up at one of these meetings.

26. Sadly, some of these bozos are not "the average gun enthusiast".
Have known too many wingers up close. The post about what that cop said hits the mark with many of them I have known. Some aren't really gun enthusiasts, but do have a lot of fear. Having the gun can make them feel pretty damned important and less impotent. Some of them get off on that. THEY could very well become a danger to themselves and anyone in the vicinity.

Gun enthusiasts, yeah, I agree with ya. Sadly, too many of the wingers don't qualify, in most definitions of the term ;)

12. I think your cop friend is projecting
Cops have to qualify at most twice a year, firing only a handful of shots each time. Unless they also are gun hobbyists they are some of the worst shots out there. I used to shoot at a range where the cops qualified and they were, almost but not quite completely without exception, terrible - absolutely terrible. On the other hand most people who enjoy target shooting for its own sake, of whatever political persuasion, practice constantly and as such are much more proficient. My average once or twice a week practice expended 200-300 rounds at a time, and I was by no means the most dedicated or proficient hobbyist at the range. Instituting the muscle memory to be a good shot takes a LOT of repetition, and unless cops are interested in doing this their pathetically inadequate qualifying requirements will make them nothing more than competent to point the gun in vaguely the right direction.

Oh and cops commit more crimes than CCW permit holders.

13. It's the action movie syndrome. The bad guys are horrible shots even
though they have several machine guns pointed at you. The good guy only has a pistol and is able to kill the bad guys one shot at a time.

15. Respectfully, YOU are wrong
The sort of doughboy who shows up at these meetings to scream is not the sort who will risk bringing a firearm into the building. The e-mails advocating concealed-carry are just for bluster. There's not one in 100,000 who is brave enough to follow through with an act that could be tantamount to suicide-by-cop.

Any occurrence of gun violence at one of these meetings will come from a loner who needs no permission from some astroturf group to go on a shooting spree. The rank-and-file freeper types will fantasize and posture, but not one will follow through on their tough-guy threats.

28. Mentioning the guy who killed those women at LA Fitness
supports my contention that the only ones worth worrying about are the loners. From all indications, he got no inspiration from Beck or any other RW magpie; he was just nucking futz! The ones who fantasize about taking up arms with other members of the Keyboard Kommandos are nothing but cowards who are all talk & no action. People can wet themselves with worry over them, but I'm not losing a minute's worth of sleep over these overfed Baby Huey motherfuckers.

16. Here are details on a typical cop qualification test
Edited on Sat Aug-08-09 10:28 AM by dmallind
60 shots - not one of which has to even hit the center of mass (the whole body torso in between shoulders and abdomen) ONCE to qualify quite handily - with 50% of the shots being within 7 feet of the target - a range at which knowing which end the bullet comes out of is sufficient to almost guarantee a COM hit!

Meanwhile I spend my time - as far far from the best shooter on earth - worrying if I cannot place every shot in a 3.5" circle 200-300 times a session at the FURTHEST distance they use (and yes like every even vaguely committed hobbyist I practice one handed, weakside, kneeling, standing, etc too)

Firearms Qualification Information Sheet
for
Police Test Applicants

General Information:

1. B-21E, Center of Mass Target
2. 60 Shots Double Action (Single Action Semi-Autos may be used)
3. Passing Score: 210 points out of a possible 300 points

a. Center of Mass-5 points
b. Out of Center of Mass-4 points
c. Arms-3 points

YARDS DESCRIPTION OF SHOOTING TASK TIME

3 Ft. You will shoot 6 rounds, STRONG HAND ONLY, Close Quarters
Reload and shoot 6 rounds, WEAK HAND ONLY, Close Quarters 25 Sec.

7 Ft. You will draw and shoot 2 rounds, return to ready, 3 times on command (Shots may be supported) 3 Sec.

7 Ft. You will kneel, draw and shoot 6 rounds, STRONG HAND ONLY 10 Sec.

There was this devastating

Well, a satirical piece in the Times is
one thing, but bricks get right to the point.

But biting satire is better that physical force.

No, physical force is better with Nazis.

20. Eh
My dad was at the Eric Massa Town Hall yesterday. He's always been licensed to carry a gun.

FWIW - he felt the need at one point that he might need to go out to his car and get it. He campaigned for Rep Massa, I gave to him financially (came carpet bagging from NJ- though the South of Rochester area is where I grew up and lived for 30 years).

It was 'hotter' in there than MSNBC showed this morning.

What's scary? Those eejits don't realize that among Democrats are:
Men raised in the South.
Some of these men are black men that were born and raised in the South during Jim Crow.
These black men know a lynch mob when they see them.
Said black men were Captains in the US Army and even more horrifying - One of those bat shit crazy protect God Country and the 'American Way' Green Berets.

They will shoot on site if they think someone is going to harm ANY ONE. But certainly someone who would harm a former military officer (Eric Massa), a Democratic Man, who ran on vets issues, health care, pulling back on the stupidity of Iraq, education . . .

I think these Extremists on the 'Right' would be ill-advised to think none of US are armed and will defend ourselves and America if they take this shit too far.

I know the idea of 'gun violence' can be something which causes a stir at D.U. It's not my intent. But the folks at D.U. need to know - there amongst them people that if attacked - will attack back.

If the 'Left' lets our voices be raised and heard on this FACT - the Radicals on the Right - might just stop and think, and stop believing that every single American on the left is anti-gun . . . though we might indeed be very much AGAINST the NRA.

I'll see their .38 with my .22. And raise it if necessary.

They're stupider than they look if they actually believe the propaganda that Dems don't own, don't carry, and aren't just as proficient... if not moreso. We take our right, privilege, and responsibility seriously. It's that last one that differentiates us most from them.
