Another opinion on HR 3200, the cynic's opinion.

I really think most people are losing sight of something very important. It's just another law. In the end something will get passed and we'll all get screwed. Is the current system broken? Yes. Is change vital? Yes. Are we likely to provide quality healthcare to the vast majority of Americans in a manner which does not overly burden those people in the near future? No. No fucking chance in hell. I don't care what gets passed, who wrote it, or what the bill says. As fucked up as that is to be able to say, I would bet everything I own on it: Straight odds, goal as here defined reached within the next ten years.

Nobody knows how to screw shit up like politicians do and I have complete and total faith that they will completely screw this up. If every single D/R election of the last nine years had gone the other was I'm 100 % sure that I would still be able to say the same thing with the same level of (questionable) confidence. Let us not forget that the national government has played a huge role in getting things to where they are now. I'm sure that if everyone on The Hill tries really hard they can enact some positive change, but I still think you're dreaming if you expect anything more for the people of this country than far less than they deserve for way more than it is worth.

Bottom line, I really don't think it's worth getting too excited about.
