MSNBC talking about disrupted town halls. . OMITTING the "memo"
discovery.

They are leaving the impression that these disruptions are NOT astro-turf.

A leaked memo from Bob MacGuffie, a volunteer with the FreedomWorks website Tea Party Patriots, details how members should be infiltrating town halls and harassing Democratic members of Congress

Here's the leaked memo:

22. yeah, the teabaggers have such a grass root movement
that the corporate networks and the health corps. are all behind them. Because, yah know, those corporate people they just love them some gullible peeps to do their dirty work. Grassroots, yeah right!!!!!

Now the anti-war movement was grassroots--let's see, I didn't hear any corporate network calling for ya'll to go protest that lie of a war--no network told you where you could meet up with fellow protestors (unlike the teabag protests), and I saw very few network photos of the tens of thousands of protestors in Washington DC unlike a few hundred of the teabaggers showing 24/7 on the network news. Yeah, that's some grassroots movement ya'll got there.

19. MSM Will Be Playing The Video's Of These Disruptions Throughout The Congressional Recess......
All the Repugs need is one video like the one from Texas - Doggett. MSM will be playing this all of August. All they need is one such display of ignorance and they'll turn it into a big deal and say that people everywhere are reacting like this.

This is organized and staged for effect. I went to a Town Hall in the Chicago Area about 2 weeks ago - a Dem Congressman that borders on being a Blue Dog. He still hasn't declared whether he is for a strong 'public option' yet.

Anyway - at least one attendee at that Town Hall was carrying a "Don't Thread On Me" flag like the one in the video from Texas.
There were about 300 people at the Town Hall I attended and I would say about 90% supported the public option.

What are we going to do about outbreaks like this? I think the Repugs will stage these all over the country over this recess.

We can yell louder and there's more of us that want this than don't. We need to fight fire with fire. Yell louder and maker bigger signs.

Remember this? Well they're doing it again.

20. Is this astroturfery?
Sounds like mere organizing, unless they're busing in agitators to pretend to be locals.

23. Did you read the memo?
Edited on Mon Aug-03-09 02:55 PM by redqueen
It seems aimed more at disruption and intimidation than conveying their support / opposition.

Also, having PR firms and lobbyists involved... yeah... I dunno.

27. No, because the insurance industry & lobbyists for the same are involved.
From TPM:

The same lobbyist-run groups which orchestrated the tea party protests — Americans for Prosperity, run by a former associate of Jack Abramoff, and FreedomWorks, run by former Republican Majority Leader and current lobbyist Dick Armey — are now pushing to use the August recess as an opportunity to present a guise of public opposition to health care reform. ThinkProgress obtained a leaked memo from Bob MacGuffie, a volunteer with Tea Party Patriots, a website sponsored by Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks, that details how members should be infiltrating town halls and harassing Democratic members of Congress. Recommended tactics include: “yell,” “stand up and shout,” and “rattle” lawmakers.
