Suggestion: put post #s on the thread map / shell

this would make it a lot easier to read a thread that has gotten to be over 10 posts or so ... it is hard at times to scroll back through and find what someone was replying to .

Maybe I should explain that I am legally blind in one eye and don't see too well with the other, so I have to enlarge things a lot to be able to read them.

There are post number at the right hand side of what I would think of as the 'thread map' - the first line of the map for this thread reads:

K&R n/t ProgrezivIndie Aug-02-09 12:02 PM #1

That '#1' is the post number.

If you're reading a thread, and want to find what they're replying to, it's at the top right of each reply - it says "Reply to #2" or whatever, and is a link - click on it, and you'll go to reply #2.

Or do you mean you don't want that over at the right hand edge?

but for a thread that has hundreds of posts, going back to find the particular # that it is replying to can be REALLY confusing (not to mention time consuming)

The map / shell that I am referring to is the blue lined thread chart between the OP and the replies. Adding the numbers here would enable one to quickly find a post in a long thread.

I know exactly what you're talking about.

I've often thought how much easier it would be to navigate if there was a feature like this. I have many times found myself wading around in a long thread, trying to find post #129 that someone below referred to - it is impossible and I've often got so frustrated I just gave up and went elsewhere.

Thank you for bringing this up. You might have to ask Skinner and the gang directly, though.
