58. WCPT is a godsend
i didn't see that ad, but I endure my commute morning and night by riding with Stephanie Miller and Tom Hartman.

WCPT has a limited license - had to go off the air at sundown in the winter - drove me crazy - they'd just cut in to the Hartman feed and say "at this time WCPT ends its broadcast day" Grrrrr
They're just a couple of years old

I wish they had some sponsors I could support - they seem to have a wierd grabbag of clients that I'm just not in the market - but I'll do what i can - they even ask you to write the sponsors and thank them, even if you don't buy something :)

72. If I lived in Texas, I'd probably
say the same. Although, Georgia is hardly any better. Zell Miller. Newt Gingrich. John Linder. Bob Barr. Sonny Perdue. Saxby Chambliss. And my favorite, Lynn Westmoreland -- the guy who wanted the Ten Commandments displayed in public buildings, only he could only name three when asked. I guess that's why he needs them displayed everywhere.
I feel your pain.

22. I see irony.
I totally agree. But, we are enabling him. Him, being his machine.

Here is a hint: if those cars were bikes, Bush wouldn't be Bush.

I know, I'm off topic. I've made a comment that puts the blame in your court. My court. Who can live in a modern society without being a hypocrite?

But it's a fantastic banner.

41. I try. But I am also part of the problem. Just not as flagrant.
I'm a magnitude below most. It's amazing to be living amongst the people again. For years I lived out in the country. Every week these people fill garbage bins. It's amazing. I fill a garbage can every six months. So yes, I am part of the problem.

Living in a modern society, we're all hypocrites. But like anything, it's to what degree.

And I disagree with nothing to worry about. I do worry. I'm watching, and I am appalled by what I see. That's why I lived in the country. I didn't want to see this crap EVERY day. Again, hypocrisy. I'm not stupid, and I'm not a liar. But I don't see many people trying. At least I'm trying. For what that's worth.

42. You're right
We are all hypocrites. The only difference is in the degree of hypocrisy.

I've been trying to reconcile that point for years.

But I still have difficulties dealing with it.

I keep thinking, "things will get better". They never do.

At least not on a fundamental level.

you don't see the bikes, because they are on the bike path, a few feet away, along our glorious lake front. there are bike racks on the buses, bike cars on the trains, bike racks, bike lanes, bike paths, all over town. plus, we have a decent public transit system that is used by hundreds of thousands every day.
i could go on. we are working hard here.

57. Hello, I was one of the people who posted this banner!
Hi, I was one of the (2) people who put up this banner in Chicago. Thanks for your supportive comments. We used a roll of cheap plastic white tablecloth, available at party supply stores or websites. Using a Sharpie I traced out the letters with a digital projector (you can also use an overhead or slide projector) using Adobe Illustrator (Word or Wordpad is fine too). I tacked and untacked the roll to the wall as I moved down the roll. After tracing, I rolled it up and took it to my comrade's house. There, we laid it out on his very long driveway, held down edges of the plastic with a few rocks and painted the letters in quickly with cheap red latex paint. Don't spend too much time being perfect with the letters, because from 10-20 feet, nobody can detect those imperfections. Then we duct-taped some pieces of wire to the edges: on the corners and about every 8 feet or so. All in all, it took about 2 hours to create(results may vary). At the pedestrian overpass at Bryn Mawr over I-90 (inbound to Chicago loop at rush hour) my comrade unrolled as I fastened the wires to the chain link fence. Once unrolled, we went back and further secured the sign from the wind by stretching duct tape from the top to the bottom about every 4 feet (if you look closely at the pic you can see it through the light plastic). It took about 3-5 minutes to set up with two people, but I recommend 3. If it had not been for Illinois Dept of Transportation clean up guys seeing it so quickly, it could have stayed up for a lot longer. While we were putting it up, the supportive honks from the hundreds of cars passing by was DEAFENING! It was so visible, that people in the opposite 4 lanes were honking as they read it in their rear-view mirrors. Try this at home kids! Thanks again for posting your comments of support!

111. Awesome!
I might suggest cutting some small slits throughout the banner next time, so the wind will pass thru, rather than just resist. I'd make them about 4-6" per slit so they won't be visible from a distance, but still effective.

This msg brought to you by Hills Brothers Coffee.

This was done much earlier. The letters were painted on freehand, without having traced it with a projector. The message is pretty clear regardless.
