If you're posting here on DU, and not watching the Cronkite special on CBS, you're making a mistake.

And I will give extra to DU next time for my comment. But Walter's epiphany is on CBS now.

5. Thank God CBS came through (in Chicago area)!
I'm watching AND DVRing this right now. The Cronkite report of JFK's death is always painfully sad to watch. Glad I wasn't born in 1963...

7. THis is kind of trite. All the media stars weighing in on how wonderful Conrkite WAS.
Robin Williams WTF? It's great seeing Cronkite talk, but I really don't need Dianne Sawyer to tell me the obvious.

19. I'd actually hear from Robin Williams or Mickey Hart
Than tools like Charles Gibson and Brian Williams, who supposedly have the same job Walter did - but fail miserably at it every day.

9. Thanks Faygo, got it on and yeah it is something to watch and when you think
of the greatness of this man, what he did in the world, who he interviewed in the world and the fairness and accuracy with how he did those things, we have lost a great man.

14. Wow... he had me sobbing.. not only for the sad events he covered
and his emotional, yet controlled way of covering these events, but obviously for the loss of such a major influence on our media and a stalwart of professionalism. We mourn more than the man with his passing. Much more.

12. The CBS Sunday Morning show was hard to watch today.
They showed Uncle Walter anchoring major events -- that was my childhood before my eyes. I saw those stories when he covered them the first time. JFK  MLK  RFK  The '68 convention in Chicago  Vietnam  And on into college where a group of us crowded into a tiny TV room to watch him every night, saying in unison at the end, "and that's the way it is." And that's the way journalism was.

for the current crop of media whores trying to pretend that they admired him. I think it was Charlie Gibson who said that the gift Walter had was to somehow connect with the audience. Only a media whore would think that was Walter's talent. What he did was tell the truth. What he did was talk straight and be honest. That's something this crew wouldn't think of.
