The next time one of your republican buddies talks about unemployment..

Remind them about the president who came into office with the unemploymet rate at 7.4% .. 12 months later it was 8.6% and 12 months after that was 10.4%!!! That president was Ronald Reagan ..

1. And in 1988
it was 5.5%. I think that by the time Obama leaves office, it will be much lower. So, I'm not sure I get your point.

6. 5.5 is only the people who are drawing unemployment
once that is over, they are off the roll and no longer counted. Part time and temp are also considered employed for the statistics sake.

I'm hoping Obama Administration would give us TRUE unemployment rates.

2. When the president is a Repubbie
the unemployed are lazy, stupid or tethered to the Nanny-state. If a Democrat is president, it's because the corporations are over-taxed, over-regulated and Big Brother just won't let anyone explore their capitalist inner-child.

3. the point is...
They are already complaining about the job Obama is doing after 6 months .. it took RR over 24 months to see unemployment start to reverse.. I do not recall them compiling about his job performance.. so I to see them give Obama the same courtesy.. ( I wish for a pony as well hehe)...

4. Do not forget that Reagan ran us into debt to reduce the number of unemployed.
There is a right way and a wrong way to attempt to fix a problem. Let's hope that Obama does it the right way. By now it is obvious that trickle down economics did not work.

Extended unemployment benefits STOPPED the first week Raygun was in office. I remember it well. It would have been my first week of extended benefits.

7. The unemployment rate now is the same as it was 3 years into Reagan's 1st term.

Do they really think it took 3 years for Reagan to fix the so-called "Carter Recession?"

If so, then they owe PRESIDENT Obama at least 3 years to fix the recession, whether they blame it on Bush or (still) on Clinton.

10. They don't care
I worked it out a while ago. Reagan Republicans aren't a political ideaology, they're a religion. Now, I'm a man of faith myself but to them, it is an article of faith that Reagan won the Cold War, shrank the defecit, lowered taxes, enabled the economy to bloom, never did anything wrong ever and farted rainbows.

Most faiths (including my own) are concerned mainly with teaching the believer how to be a better person. Reaganism is concerned with attaining temporal power. They don't want the kingdom of God/Allah/Satan/Vishnu, they want to inherit the earth.
