FReeper on cat killing: "I killed kittens. . put ‘em in a sack, smacked it with a bat"
Truncated quote; full one below. I hesitate to post this, but then I saw the lack of outrage there, his continuing posts about how it was the right thing to do, and I figured a reminder about the depth of depravity that is over there justifies this post, particularly in light of their taking off after Malia. Apologies to those who find this too foul; I check it out from time to time to find out what we are up against.

If you want to see the full thread, you can go here. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2293926/posts .

The bold quotes are my work. Pretty standard until this post (83):

I killed a litter of kittens a few decades ago just before the family hopped in the car for our two week vacation to Disneyland. I put ‘em in a sack and smacked it a few times with a bat and then made sure they were all dead, then threw the sack in the garbage - the same place I put chicken bones and left over ribs.

Interestingly, I have never in my life had an urge to cause physical harm to ANY human being.

I understand the chasm that exists between the value of human beings and natural resources.

My kids, against my wishes (note: answering a question about how they came to have the kittens) (but my then wife vetoed my wishes) took in a stray and, a year later, presto.

I washed my hands of it until someone needed to come in and save the day before our vacation and so I took action. Dad is the cleaner upper of other people’s problems. And that one was cleaned up simply and effectively.

One of my daughters still has a cat, but not from that litter.

And don’t get me started on spaying and neutering! It is not a moral decision, but a practical one. The reason I would have it done is for my convenience, not the animals best interests.

They were my responsibility. I would never voluntarily own a cat. I like to pet other people’s cats and for some reason cats love me. I only like cats if they are in the right sauce though.

I am never intentionally cruel to animals. Never. It repulses me. It is something teenage boys do, and I did as a teenager, and usually learn from it at some point. I don’t presume to make the choice for other people though. Unless the animal in question is someone else’s property, I don’t really care what they do with their animals unless they are my neighbor and the results are lots of flies, etc.

There's more, but that's enough to turn any decent person's stomach. I will just add that in another post he says he cries "during chick films, even though I know they are not real."

Then he adds a smiley face.

106. I don't...
believe in a physical HELL but I do believe in consequences. The consequence for such behavior is to have to relive each and every instance for eternity and know how those kittens felt, each broken bone or damaged organ, as they were bludgeoned to death and at the same time be fully aware of oneself doing it. The consequences of which I speak is true for all of us - we don't need Hell or the Devil out there somewhere. We create both in our words and our actions. I can imagine no greater agony than to be at the other end of our hurtful cruelty to life and to see how we have made creation suffer.

102. Which version of The Bible are you referencing that
it specifically mentions 'cars'? The Nostradamus version?

Maintain your property to ensure it keeps its value? If greed is your sole motivator for having pets, you shouldn't have any, because that is not respect, that is avarice. Isn't greed one of the seven deadly sins? Is this not mentioned in the same Bible? Not being a biblical scholar, myself, I am looking forward to more of your elucidation on this topic. I would also appreciate it if you could share your view/interpretation of The Bible and its pro-slavery standpoint.

And here you mock women, minorities and children for suffering the most from our shitty healthcare system.

If you happen to see any Freepers, in your travels around the inter-tubes, please tell them from us, "go fuck yourselves, you whiny little bitty-dicked fascists. You lost. You lost. You lost. There are very important reasons why you lost but most of all, America will no longer tolerate your selfish, racist, homophobic ignorant asses any more. Why do you hate democracy?" YOu can get a feeling from where he is coming from on all sorts of issues. I did. He just bought acreage in kentucky. He bought an SKS during the Clinton adminsistration and bought a "personal defence" shotgun a while back. And he is purchasing acreage in Kentucky as I write this. He is calling it Galt's Plateau. I am seeing a more complete picture here as I acquire data.

I honestly believe that a large percentage of every population
has ALWAYS been like those mindfucked assholes.
I honestly think the FReeper problem is LESS at this point in time
than it was at several points in the past.

Be glad they are only 20%.
I suspect there were a few points in Europe during the Dark Ages
when when their delusional & psychotic mindset had infected
at least 2/3rds of the population.

That's probably why that period is called "the Dark Ages".

60. Or maybe he is right.
Just saying...

I have spent a good deal around both farm, wild, and domesticated animals and, frankly, there is a lot of unwarranted hysteria around here. I read what he said and the actual words, based on their dictionary meanings, align pretty much with what I believe regarding any non-human species. I am not talking about "feelings". I am talking about the actual words this guy uses, and what they actually mean in the english vernacular. It "seems" preposterous, but it really does make a certain kind of sense, when you put all his posts together as one long thought stream.

95. Not only is not normal for teenagers, it is considered
a sign of deep psychological problems. Cruelty to animals and a fascination with fire, are two signs that something is very wrong with a child.

The freeper coward who thinks what he did is something to boast about, clearly did not get the help he so desperately needed when the signs of his warped personality first became apparent. And we, as a society pay the price as that despicable site clearly demonstrates.

That is one sick creep and I for one, would not want to live next door to him. He should be reported to the authorities for this. I think it is probably a criminal offense. Will have to check that out. Has he never heard of a shelter, or adoption? He WANTED to kill something, and chose something that could not defend itself. Coward is too good a word for him.

He had lymphoma. We got him when she was 5 and he kind of adopted her, so when his time came she was there for him. He purred in her arms until his heart stopped.

April is a horrible month for us. This year we had to put one down; last year we had to put two down, on consecutive Sundays.

We still miss them all terribly.

Hang in there, and don't be afraid to grieve.

46. Little consolation, I know...
But your kitty knew you loved him.

I had a male feral that had been coming to my back door for a couple years for his meals. One morning I watched him slink under the deck. I figured he had to be sick, but I couldn't reach him. I doubt if he would have let me pick him up anyway.

I checked on him every 30 minutes or so. Later that afternoon, I laid down in the grass where he could see me, and this beautiful creature crawled over to be near me. He died shortly after.

He would never let me touch him, and yet he knew I cared.

A male! Have never had a male pet in all these years (not sure about the turtle). So sorry about your loss.

Took me 6 weeks to get prodded to rescue an unadoptable cat. He was at the shelter, and those who had dropped him off there said he wouldn't use his litter box; messed all over the house. The shelter volunteers pointed out that the drop-offs said they had "multiple cats" and changed the litter box "once a week." Plus, he wasn't a "lap cat."

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Not one accident; he's fastidious. Plus, I can't keep him off me. He's a very happy boy now, and I intend to keep him that way.

It followed us here. We thought it would die because it was obviously sick and all bone and very lethargic. But we fed it and it got better. It disappeared after a few weeks.

displayed by Freeper-types on other boards on a number of different occasions. One particular discussion involved one guy, who was really chest-thumpy about what a wonderful born-again Christian he was. Anyway, the discussion involved euthanasia of pets, and he was practically bragging about how if it came time to end his dog's life, he wouldn't let the "greedy vet steal his hard earned money for a shot", and would gladly blow the dog away with his rifle or handgun! :puke:

Restrictions on Linking to Other Websites

Do not post messages that give publicity to websites that have little purpose other than to smear, disrupt, or complain about Democratic Underground. Currently there are only three websites that fall into this category. Their addresses are not listed here because we do not wish to give them publicity. They are easily identified by their bizarre obsession with Democratic Underground.

Do not quote or link to bigoted websites, or websites that republish content from bigoted websites. While many of these websites are easily identifiable, some are less obvious at first glance. Please be aware that even some anti-Bush websites also include bigoted content and are therefore not welcome here.

31. I disagree with you regarding this post.
First, Free Republic is not one of the proscripted sites. Second, the nature of this thread on that site, with this particular, noxious individual serves a purpose. While several people on that site disagreed with the kitten beater, his posts remain there, and there are more than were quoted here.

We must watch those on the opposing side, because there are those, like this nutball, who has been a member of that site since 1998, who need to have their vicious insanity exposed.

If you are offended by posts at Free Republic, it is pretty easy to avoid them. In some cases, it is important to put the most extreme on that site here for all to see.

Now, that's just my opinion, and you're more than welcome to disagree with it.

33. Well, I agree with you 100%. It's very easy to avoid
threads about Freepers, and most people use that term or Free Republic in the title of posts which discuss that site.

We must...absolutely must...keep a close eye on what the wingers are up to. There is no way to do that other than to visit their forums and see what nonsense they are saying and writing.

The particular freeper quoted in this thread may well be a dangerous psychopath. We may hear more of him one day.

40. Hate to tell you his, but . . .
vets will abort the kitten-fetuses one week before they're due. So your objection is really just a matter of days.

Let us not fetishize the cute, cuddly, furry kittens--unless oxygen makes them cute and cuddly, for they are furry long before.

Kill, kill, kill--it's the American way. Forget being inconvenienced. Like it's really hard raising/giving away kittens. I can guilt people into taking two/three at a time. Hell, I've guilted a grocery store into giving me a free 40 lb bag of dog food for each of the kittens I was giving away.

Taking a bat, wall, or stuffing them into a bag to starve is inhuman.

But so is killing them a week before they are born.

Maybe we only fetishize oxygen and not cute and cuddliness.

61. Why exactly is it wrong?
Just asking. Who said it is? And remember this is decades old stuff. What if it was 200 years ago? When did it become officially "wrong"? It used to be quite commonplace. In fact, at the time this guy did this, most people would have considered it the humane thing to do. And it begs the question: why is it not?

Don't tell me how you "feel". Feelings are irrelevant. I want to know what, specifically, makes it wrong, who says so, and why they are an authority to be respected beyond your (and my) own sensibilities.

As so many things are, this seems to not be what one would presume after reading only one of his posts. If only we could talk to the guy to get a more complete picture, but a somewhat more complete picture is offered as you read all of his posts. I do not now see him as the monster I did when I first started reading his posts. In fact, he makes a certain amount of sense. I can not get a full picture of the guy from this one issue. And he offers plenty of evidence, regarding his thought process, to imply that he is not "intentionally" being cruel to animals. Death is not cruel. How you do it can be, but even then it is a very "gray" area. And I suspect most here would argue about where you should draw the line.

But I don't want to start any fights.

116. State Law..
That would be a criminal act of animal cruelty. Second blindly smashing a bag with animals in it does not guarantee death. Shooting them with a 22 in the head would be acceptable, if there was NO animal shelter, no alternative veterinary approach to a humane death.

Think of it this way. You have two choices. You get put in a burlap coffee bag and someone beats you until you stop moving. You may be dead, you may just be really fucked up. You will die, eventually. Or you are given a massive overdose of barbiturates, you are dead before the plunger hits the bottom of they syringe.

Think about that, pretty sure you would not appreciate the experience of a slow death.

49. Sad.. sickening
taking life is a something worth consideration. After an interesting path in life i can say I would have less resistance in firing a weapon in combat than just killing a domestic pet. Strange, but true. I have met plenty of guys that would no shit lay waste to a person with zero thought in a shitty situation but would drive their car into the ditch to dodge a stray dog or cat.

Strange how people work.

There is a problem with a person who would do that to a pet.

God made me that way. I must eat living things to survive. It is what my body uses for fuel. They must die for me, a human, to live.

Come to think of it, all animals must consume other living creatures to survive. It's sort of "food on the hoof". Cool!

67. Yes, but I don't see what the guy did as cruel.
It SOUNDS cruel on the surface. I admit that. But when I move beyond emotion and engage my human brain and it's powerful reasoning power, I ask myself, what happens to a kitten (which has been alive for a short time and has less consciousness than a human - which has a significantly larger brain - and we all remember what happened to us the first few weeks or months of our lives, not) When you instantaniously turn it's brain into so much hamburger with a few skull chips. It stops functioning instantly. This means it has no functioning brain to feel pain so it is lights out.

Honestly, that does not sound very cruel to me. I'm just trying to reason this thing out.

72. I guess it depends on how long it took
I have to ask myself how many kittens it was and how long he hit them. He did say something about making sure they were dead because he thought it would be cruel to see that they were still alive and just let them suffer as he drove off. That seems somewhat humane. How humane depends on the sensibilities of the person making the judgment. But I have a hard time judging others.

We don't have enough information to offer anything more than an emotional response.

109. Cruel and Stupid
beating an animal to death is cruel. Taking it to the shelter to be euthanized is free and there is even a small chance it would be adopted. Shooting it in the head with a 22 is less cruel than smashing it with a bat. It also insures instant death.

He said he put them in a sack and beat the sack. Not the skull. He probably did not check to verify he had killed them.

Cruel and stupid.

I have zero problem shooting a game animal when the need or want arises. I am not poor, I can afford not to eat venison. I enjoy deer hunting. That is not comparable to killing companion animals. This person like the person who was killing cats in south florida is being cruel for the sake of cruelty. It is free to drop animals off at the shelter to be euthanized.

113. These guys are really scum..
reminds me of a guy I met in the national guard. He was a police officer in a small nc town. Really quite nice guy you would not want to get in a fight with.

In the first gulf war they breached earthen barricades set up by the iraqis. The vehicle used was a cross between a bulldozer and a armored vehicle. They were followed in by dismounts, bradleys and eventually abrams.

As soon as the breached one berm they realized they were in the middle of a compound with enemy entrenched and firing at them with rpgs , machine guns, and t72 main guns behind berms. This was at night and they were Fucked, very dangerous.

So they had no choice but to begin to push dirt onto the enemy in the trenches (this is a big deal and is a war crime if not under exact circumstances) which ensured they would suffer a terrible death. He did what he had to do and did not feel bad about it.

Same guy 3 years later felt bad after his kid was in a car and saw a turtle get hit. So now on duty he will stop traffic, both lanes if needed, to move turtles out of the road. He asks other deputies to do the same. I am sure they do as he was a well liked guy.

Point is a person can have the ability to act with tremendous violence and force when needed, and still keep their soul.

A person killing kittens in a bag has no soul, no humanity.

Richard Dawson needs to come out of retirement.

100. At pet store, lady came in asking for mice, guy asks if she wants em dead, she says yes,
guy pulls out a few pink, naked day old mice, puts 'em in paper bag, wacks the bag on side of table. Looks in bag, wacks it on table a few more times. hands bag to lady. I was stunned to see him do that in front of other customers. That was just a few years ago in Los Angeles.
