Politico's Allen says $1 trillion deficit "awesome issue for Republicans," ignoring role they played in creating it

SUMMARY: Mike Allen claimed that the budget deficit reaching $1 trillion "is an awesome issue for Republicans." However, as numerous economists have noted, Bush administration policies are responsible for a large portion of the deficit.

2. Obama inherited a deficit of $1.2 trillion dollars..
as opposed to the surplus of $270 billion that Bush and the Repubs inherited in 2000. Yeah, that's a real issue! How was he supposed to cut it to zero in six months?

3. Politico is nothing more than another mouthpiece of the GOP.

Like they needed another one. :argh:

4. Tax cuts and war
That's never been done in the history of the country, as far as I know. Maybe in the history of any country.

And Cheney's "deficits don't matter" was pretty much a Fuck You to anyone getting in the way of his blowing a hole in the budget.

Allen knows this, but he's still intoxicated with smelling his fingers after the handjobs he gave Bush/Cheney at Time.

5. What if the billions for war, and the manpower of the army
were used to build solar panels and windmills over the last 8 years.

With upgrades to grid, we could be off foreign oil by now.

6. Weren't the Repukes blasting Obama at one point about his "opportunity" remarks from way back when?
Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 10:05 AM by Proud Liberal Dem
Or that might have been attributed to another Democrat? I can't remember. But, at any rate, it seems like they consider the current situation to be a political "gold mine" for them, of course. Typical GOP hypocrisy and all that. :eyes:

It may not, in fact, actually be Obama's mess but I loved how he threw the gauntlet down the other day by calling the Repukes out on their lack of ability and/or willingness to suggest ideas for dealing with the problem and their constant sideline carping about his stimulus plan and the horrid economy Buscho left his administration to clean up.
