1. Notice it calls Al Franken a satirist
Not that that's wrong, but why not call him a Harvard scholarship recipient? He's not exactly brainless.

3. Well of course!
i just think the media's been generally dismissive of the intellectual creds he brings to the job.

8. That's for sure. Franken's quite a speaker, and he
has good ideas. He's going to pop lots of people's little baloons shortly.

And yet, even here on DU, we have people trying to rain on this parade. It's sickening!

9. It's Senator Franken's ability as a satirist that will make him
a favorite commentator on the talk shows. That's great for us.

Can't wait to see what O'Reilly says. I know that Keith Olbermann took a vow of silence (more or less) regarding O'Reilly, but I am hoping he will break it just this once to comment on O'Reilly's comment on the confirmation of Franken's election.

Hard as I try to set partisan glee aside, The Franken/O'Reilly/Olberman commentaries tonight should be quite a show.

5. My prediction: Al Franken will be a force to be reckoned with in the Senate.
He is perfect for the job. He has immersed himself in public policy issues over the past 6 or so years, conferred with experts on all sides of every issue of importance and can articulate his own views very well. He is polite, a good listener, and could persuade a fencepost to agree with him about just about anything. Senator Franken's presence in the Senate will be healing and positive and will influence the pace and direction of the entire Senate. He will be particularly influential for a junior, junior senator. Our whole country will benefit from Senator Franken's gentle wit in the Senate.
