Save yourself some time, fill in the blanks (New posting form)
While I was saddened to see the death of (x) I don't get how in the world you could think of them as anything other than a (insert slam here - sicko, freak, weirdo) because of (y) that they once did. (-OR-) While I was saddened to see the death of (x) I just don't get how they are important enough to flood the board here with constant updates about the whole thing, if I want to read their biography I will buy the book.

And don't we have enough posts on this already? I mean, I know this is a discussion board where people like to discuss what is on their mind or of interest to them, but there are children starving in Africa and each post not dedicated to that means more are going without food. Post more about real issues that affect me and I care about.

And don't tell me to hide threads, that takes too much effort. Why should I have to hide something when you should know well enough ahead of time I don't want to see anymore such threads?

Sure, maybe that death meant something to you - but to me it does not mean the same, your postings on it are bothering me. How many other people died you never even heard of or know about and you have not made a post about them? Why is this person special, they and their lives were not to me.

And if you don't like my posts about this, you can use hide thread you know....

----Now just fill in the blanks, cut and paste, and save some time!

2. Sadly, as long as the M$M media keeps milking this
DU will keep ranting about it one way or another.

But in other news, I heard a famous person died.

3. Of course there's always form B
Oh I am so crushed that (insert vapid celebrity name here) has passed. He/she touched my life so deeply all those countless times I watched them gyrate/squawk/pontificate/pretend to be someone else (delete as appropriate) on cable TV. I will never forget how he/she was the first person to ever manage to (insert celebrity doing here). I am bereft. My life is now incomplete and I don't know how the world will ever be the same without their gyrations/squawking/pontification/pretending to be someone else (delete as appropriate) on my cable. I must now start the 417th thread talking about how much this means to me as an individual.

5. Takes less effort to HIDE THREAD than write a big long OP about it.
Seriously--there's a freaking "X" right beside the thread title--you just hit the button. That's too hard?

I "like" your post just fine, I think, though, that your solution takes longer than hitting the little X.

6. Yeah, but the X does not let them chime in - they want to create a new thread too
Because like others, sometimes a reply to an existing thread just isn't enough and personal enough.

Which is how I feel on many such topics. You have a lot to say and it feels out of place because it is too long for a reply and does not have the same personal impact as creating your own original (some don't always like to piggy back off of others' ops).

;)

9. I prefer your kind of thread
A good republican scandal or better yet - a kick-ass progressive bill for the president to sign into law.

While I was saddened to see the death of DU I don't get how in the world you could think of them as anything other than a bore because of all the Michael Jackson threads.

And don't we have enough posts on this already?
