I'm watching the BET Award show -
LeBron James just won for Best Male Athlete.

He thanked the Jackson family "for what they did for basketball."

How did I miss their contribution to basketball?

What was it?

5. Is that it?
I mean, I'm watching this show, and Jamie Foxx, who claimed to be drunk when he came on, is the MC, and he just announced that "Mike was HOOD," and then he said something about "Mike's baby mommas."

Uh, no.

I think I better change the channel. The show's not very good, anyway.................................

15. I didn't see her,
but the entertainers in the first hour were just terrible - off-key, lots of smoke and jumping around, NO musical ability.

One young woman sang a capella, and she was sensational. Another led a girl group, and she was good.

But, overall, it was a terrible, terrible show.

And somebody needs to yank Foxx - he's an embarrassment.............................

31. She's a great dancer,
she's got a pretty good voice, and she's gorgeous. Her collection of wigs could probably settle the national debt, if you sold them off.

But, when she fails, she does it big time. Like the dress she wore for the Obamas' first dance at the Inaugural Ball. It was AWFUL!

What a shame that Queen Latifa wasn't singing. She's done some blues songs that are out of this world.

And she truly is still unreliable, can be triffling and used to be totally scandalous.

New Edition's open was fantastic. OMG, Bobby Brown has gained some serious weight.

Jamie Foxx is doing a fantastic job. His opening monologue was great.

Ne-Yo did very well. And Beyonce's performance was the highlight of the night so far!

Here comes Keith Sweat with an oldie but goodie!

Great show!

30. The OJ Simpson?
Or the O'Jays?

You gotta be careful now - things have changed.

I skipped out on the show after the first hour - it just sucked, and I didn't see it as getting any better.

It was like some really expensive Amateur Hour, and that really bites, because I always loved this particular show..........

32. Just for clarification I am referring to the O'jays!

sometimes when I am online I get to acronym happy! LOL!

Anyway, I though the show was quite good. But then from about 10:30 until now, the O'Jays and Don Cornelius just took over! It almost seems like they had time to fill or something. If you tuned in at 10:30-on, you would have thought the O'Jays died. I don't get it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13ZGZexsaFo

Consider your educated :)

It's amazing how many great songs Michael Jackson made. I had totally forgotten all about this one, and the one with Naomi Campbell, etc.

I think the video above is probably my #3 favorite Michael Jackson song of all time.

38. Thanks -
watching Michael Jackson try to teach Michael Jordan how to moonwalk has to be one of the most charming vignettes ever.

But, no, I'm not educated, in spite of your generosity.

The comment was "thank the Jackson family for their contribution to basketball." Using a few shots by Michael Jordan and some other basketball props in this video was hardly a "contribution to basketball."

Thanks for trying, though. I expect that comment, as someone here already noted, will live to embarrass LeBron James as, perhaps, the dumbest thing he ever said.........

As a black woman, BET has always been an embarrassment to me. I watched it tonight because I was hoping that BET would make an attempt to redeem itself by giving a fitting tribute to Michael Jackson. They forever missed that opportunity.

Wack off-key singers and sagging rappers don't come close to representing MJ's talents. The cherry on top of that mess was Papa Joe on the red carpet pimping his 2-bit record label. That man is a COLD piece of work.
