CNN- Iranian envoy: CIA involved in Neda's shooting?
MEXICO CITY, Mexico (CNN) -- The United States may have been behind the killing of Neda Agha-Soltan, the 26-year-old Iranian woman whose fatal videotaped shooting Saturday made her a symbol of opposition to the June 12 presidential election results, the country's ambassador to Mexico said Thursday.

"This death of Neda is very suspicious," Ambassador Mohammad Hassan Ghadiri said. "My question is, how is it that this Miss Neda is shot from behind, got shot in front of several cameras, and is shot in an area where no significant demonstration was behind held?"

He suggested that the CIA or another intelligence service may have been responsible.

"Well, if the CIA wants to kill some people and attribute that to the government elements, then choosing women is an appropriate choice, because the death of a woman draws more sympathy," Ghadiri said.

<snip>

"These are the methods that terrorists, the CIA and spy agencies employ," he said. "Naturally, they would like to see blood spilled in these demonstrations, so that they can use it against the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is of the common methods that the CIA employs in various countries."

2. Why is impossible?
Not saying either way but this would not be out of the ordinary for the CIA. Business as usual in fact.

Again explain why you think it is impossible with some details hopefully. I mean CNN isn't exactly a radical outfit.

8. Did Obama call off the Cheney operation to destabilize Iran? Was Scowcroft lying?
Did the US go back on 50-plus years of intervention inside Iran? Is the support for MEK a hoax?

Never mind, it's true that "we" don't have any, unless the first person plural has now been redefined to include unaccountable secret services who receive "our" taxes but don't report to "us."

3. These Claims require at least SOME proof.......
Maybe it was Sunnis, or maybe Mossad or Putin or perhaps Castro......

Maybe it was the Illuminati or the Catholic Church....or wait, I know, it was the Scientologists.

Or maybe Charles Manson

the CIA. We have a 100% right to form opinions about them. The ONLY question is how much control a President has over the black ops CIA. If our CIA did it, was it business as usual without checking with anyone or was it approved OR WAS IT APPEOCED BY THE BARONS as a deal between the CIA and the Barons? All suspicions and deragatory comment are valid and to be expected if it is the CIA.

One post = opinion is no way = 0%
I say = 50%

They have the worst reputation of regime change orchestration that involves death as if humans were ants.

7. Even the CIA wouldn't stoop to that.
Secondly, any time you take an action like that, there is the risk of exposure. The benefit to risk ratio just wouldn't be worth it. The regime had already greatly discredited itself.

9. You're kidding, right?
By the way, I think by far the likeliest explanation is that the woman was hit by a Basiji bullet, though she may not have been intentionally targeted. But your statement requires monumental denial.

19. No, not the CIA. It would tarnish their halos too much.
I don't believe they're responsible but to suggest "they wouldn't stoop that low" is pretty naive.

13. Let's think about this logically
There's a camera everywhere at any time anymore. So that is very possible. The regime in Iran with the Basij militia is nuts. They kill whomever they want to when they want to. Part of the National Revolutionary Guard of Iran. This Neda person could have been some part of the youth organizations trying to get protesting up and running. We don't know.

The CIA doesn't need to intervine because it was already happening. It would have been better having CIA taking pictures of the dozens of other real killings and spraying bullets around crowds to stir the shit-pot.

17. He should look to his own Basiji government sponsored terrorists.
If he thinks he will redirect attention away from his country having its own death squads he's a loon.

18. Given the history of our clandestine services this isn't beyond the realm of possibility.
Edited on Sun Jun-28-09 12:44 PM by shadowknows69
Main point is we'll probably never know for sure who did the shooting. I just don't see the point in the CIA wasting the resources doing something that the oppressive regime was doing anyway.

20. Iranian regime perfectly capable & willing to kill protestors & women. They've already proven that.
This guy squawks "CIA" as if it will wipe away their own history of brutality against their own citizens, including women. Ham handed propaganda.

And yes, I am aware of the CIA's history. But the Ambassador's magic CIA bullet theory is ridiculous. He's trying to explain away the video. He's saying it's anyone--maybe CIA or another intel outfit, or terrorists, anyone but the Iranian gov't forces who were there.

Interview with the doctor who was on the scene of the shooting and tried to assist Neda: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8119713.stm
