12. Our neighbors shoot off big fireworks and my animals get psycho but can watch
them from our window. I may put them down the basement this year.

28. Same here. I've found that she does better when she can see them
When she can associate a visual with the noise, she seems to like it better, so I let her watch from the window.

30. I don't know. 1 or 2.
If I had my way, I'd be at home, alone, not "celebrating" at all. I no longer live in town, so I don't have to lock my dogs and cats in the house, and stay put as their security blanket. If I want to celebrate, I have to go to town.

I'm fairly neutral when it comes to the Revolutionary War. I don't blame those who wanted freedom from King George; I like the Constitution they devised. I don't particularly care for the arrogance and narrow-mindedness, the greed, the notions of empire, that came with them and grew into the new nation.

Fireworks are beautiful, and fun, if I can separate them from the bombs they represent. I don't see anything to celebrate about bombs.

Barbeque, fireworks as works of art...good. Flag-waving parades? Pass. I'm not a flag waver.

I'll probably be guilted into joining family at the fairgrounds for fireworks and picnic; it's fun, and I wouldn't mind, if it could happen before my bedtime. Around here, the last light doesn't fade until about 10:30 at this time of year. If we show up at 9:00, for an hour and a half or so of picnic, catch, etc., before the fireworks start, there will be no place to park or picnic. If we show up early enough to grab a spot, we'll be there for hours. Then it takes a couple of hours for the traffic snarl to get us on the road to get home.

So...either choice 1 or 2.

After dark on the 4th the actual gunfire begins. The fireworks will continue on and off for a couple more weeks.

35. I will be attending a concert that is part of the farewell tour
of Saffire, the Uppity Blues Women...whose bluesy hits include: "It takes a damn good man to be better than no man at all"..."There's Lightning in these Thunder Thighs"...and "Bitch with a Bad Attitude". . .:).

They are a wonderful group of mature women who have been composing and performing for years, and I'm sad to see them go their separate ways.

For those unfamiliar with this group:
